Went to a rehearsal in Hoboken last night and I put my bass back into my friends car. We went to Maxwell's (in Hoboken NJ) afterwards and then we drove back here, to Staten Island. He crashed on my couch.
This morning, when I went to grab it out of his car, it was missing. The trunk door was unlocked. However it was closed when I got to it this morning. This makes me think that at some point during the night, someone opened the door and took it out, and closed the door afterwards.
Also missing is a bag full of microphones and cords and other random crap. Its in a tweed bag.
The bass was stolen in the Fender Deluxe Tweed Hardshell bass case and the bag matches it. The case as a tell-tale giant C mark. Its not intentional, its a stain from god knows what. Maybe grease? Sewn on is the General Electric's Band logo, but that can be taken off easily. Its an acoustic guitar with the GE logo over it. The half the guitar has gears and cogs in it. I'm getting a copy of it from the singer.
The bass itself is a Fender parts P-bass.
Here are the specs.
Alder body is a nitro 3 tone sunburst. There is wear on the contour by the bridge as well as the usual dings and scratches. No neck date, as this was an after market body. In the neck cavity "Heart Full of Soul" has been carved with a pocket knife and filled in with black ink. This could be sanded out.
Neck has the early 60's Fender style logo. The neck date is from March 1983. Neck has been stripped and retinted so it looks like a less hideous orange. It has a rosewood board with the frets yanked out and the replacement fretlines are a very dark gray.
The neck was originally from the Fender American Vintage series and is the 1962 P-bass model.
The pick guard is adonized aluminum (aka gold) with a lot of wear where I used to rest my thumb on the pickup and on the tiny sliver of guard where I'd rest my thumb on the neck. The thumb rest is real wood and is missing some paint. Its maple.
There is a DiMarzio Model One in the neck position (aka big humbucker) Its a matte gold to blend in with the pick guard. The precision style pups in the mid-position are Lindy Fralins.
The bridge is made of brass and it looks like the standard fender bridge (aside from being brass)
Tuners are regular Fender tuners with the exception of the Hipshot Drop-D Extender installed. There is a bit of rust on all the tuners. The rest of the hardware (screws etc) have some rust on them as well.
I'm trying to find someone that has pics of this bass. The gold model one humbucker as well as the Drop-D tuner make it kind of unique, as well as the handwriting in the neck pocket.
