Disgusting, The Fender sweatshop special...made by people who are rounded up and sent to jail if they try to form a union or exercise any workers' rights...nice one Fender, I may just look elsewhere in future...

I played one at GC a couple of weeks ago. Blonde model. After spending almost 90 min in the bass room and playing all the various Fenders - USA & MIM, plus a Gretsch and a Hofner,
I thought, Chinese made or not, it was the best sounding and best playing bass in there. It has bottom to spare. Sound is Fat, Big, and Powerful, with clarity of tone. I was amazed. $600 bucks.
I was torn between buying it and waiting for a clean one to come in that wasn't already banged up. (this one had been handled a lot and where they had it hanging you had to negotiate a freaking obsticle course between some amp heads that had metal protection bars around them...hense the dings) The guy said they had a sunburst coming in sometime in January so I decided to wait. But the Blonde one does look nice. I definitely have my radar on one.

I ordered a blonde MPT in late Dec (took advantage of the GC $100/free shipping deal, for $499). I got a tracking number yesterday, so it looks like they are starting to ship. Due to circumstances :bawl: they are doing expedited shipping for me :). I have to say, they have treated me well over the years.

I'm looking forward to receiving the Telecaster, they have been on my radar for over 25 years, but the bridge PUP pushed me over the edge. I'm guessing it will sound great through my Tonebone/Eden amp and 2 Goliath 410 cabs rig!

I had that mod added and though I love it (re, LOVE it), it's still a humbucker in the neck position.

I run it in parallel mode for some added clarity, but it will always be boomy.

I had 250k pots put in, because I didn't love the stock 1 meg pots, but I may replace the 250's with 500k's, so when I open up the tone, it'll have a bit more bite.

Anyone else experimented with 500k pots on the Telebasses?

Didn't Mel Schacher (sp) and Barry Oakley both put mudbuckers in the neck position of Jazz basses? I sure loved Mel's tone (Barry's wasn't too bad either).

Oakleys was actually a single coil Guild bisonic pickup which we all know as darkstar fo rthe reissue. very unlike a mudbucker.

BURP. why did i read this thread. I have loved the lotto bass since the first site and now this is around while i am in sell down mode. JoeNerve - i trust your opinion . is this really a bass worth having or another sit in the case bass???


anyone think about ser/single/par switches to get a closer to j bass sound. wish they made a 3 way push pull pot. may have to go just ser/single and puch pull pots...

Ive thus far only taken it to a few rehearsals, but im loving it. Sounds real organic to me, for lack of better word, and i really like the feel of the neck. I never know for sure the love i have for a bass until i gig it and that hasnt happened yet since im waiting on a d-tuner. Have a gig tomorrow night with more than 1 set, in a room im familiar with so i may be popping its cherry then. Thus far id say its worth the $$$, but im not you. Ive owned a good handful of fenders and this and my jag are the only ones i've liked. Not being a fender fan and liking this may mean something, but im not sure what. :) will check back in if i use it tomorrow.

thanks. I am little leery of the mudbucker but these are squires, not the original fender by Seth who set out to outdo his gibson mudders. my original is over the top, fart in the tube mud. - over 30 ohm on the meter. i await your feedback though some mud will help get you a nice JPJ acoustic thump. Jim

PS - how is the Jaebird doing??

My Squier TB pickup reads 24k Ohm. In series mode (stock) it definitely farts out speakers. Series/Single/Parallel has given me alternatives.

Neck is a comfortable C-shaped neck. Not as deep as a chunky thunderbird neck. Fretboard feels slightly thinner than a standard P, wider than a J, rounder around the back and deeper than both.

Pickups and Necks (with the exception of being glossy) on the Fender MP Tele seem to be the same as the squier, with different finishes and control scheme (2 vol, 1 tone).

Still no idea if the pickups on the MP Tele could support 3 way switches. How cool would that be? Neck pickup in series, bridge in parallel, or vice versa, or both in single-coil meaning like a jazz...

Anyone that has one check yet to see if it is 4 wire like the squiers or 2 wire like the originals. I have 2 originals - both stupidly modified many years ago because they were so limited. One i actually opened up the HB case to get to the indivdual coils to get around the 2 wire issue. helped out the sound but have lost the cover since then....:-(

I allso put both pick-up more deep to body. So now is also possible slap this bass without problems :).
It is nice bass only i would prefer if it will be little more yellow :D not like ri 51, but somewhere on half way of both..;)

how are the pickups mounted to the body??? are they movable?

after this thread i passed aGC on the way back from dropping kid off at UCONN so of course i got offthe highway. Looking for 2 items ; PF15He cab (of course not) and one of these. That they had. Of course not good amps were wired up and they gave me dirty look when i asked so i used the only one, an acoustic with a 810 cab. First impression - well built, nice weight , nice neck, decent setup actually great by GC standards. knobs/pots felt cheap. nice resonant body. Plugged in. First I hate the acoustic (GC brand actually) so i need to try it agin at one of my local places. Neck pup - absolutely not as huge sounding as the original but up ther on the mudder side. Bridge pup - i thought it was too far back till i actually played it. Sounds good where it is. Combined they sound ok. not very clear. I actually preferred the brdige pup with some neck added in but that is not what i want this bass to be. I have enough J basses for that sound. I will have to try this one again thru some better amps to decide. My gut tells me i will build my own with the neck pup moved back some to give it some more clarity.

PS - this is not a chunky neck by fender tele standards. neck is fine , pretty much stanrd p bass neck. I have played/owned some tele bassnecks that were truely baseball bats in costume.
