Fender Mustang Club

I own a Vintera and it has a pure vintage feel and sound to it apart from the poly finish. The neck is not as narrow as the mij and pj in a good way imho
Also have a Vintera. Generally love it. Feels solid, sounds solid, look great, joy to play. Need to take a couple of pictures and get a club number!
My downsides are... I think it's a lot of money for what it is when compared to what other brands are doing, such as Chowny, but can appreciate I'm paying for the Fender brand. Can also appreciate it's a vintage spec but at this price point, no body contouring and little things like that annoy me. Would have preferred to go for one of the new Squiers at half the price, but they're not available over here until March 2020ish. Also, so disappointed in the standard scale bass gig bag it comes in. Would have rather it shipped with nothing than this!
it's ok but, on mine, I removed the lower body padding due to the height of my strap locks.
I've no useful suggestion, but have to say that THAT BASS in front of THAT AMP is jaw-droppingly beautiful!!

I would get a blue Vintera and stick a tug bar on it. I've seen one JMJ in the flesh and I didn't like the faux wear on it. Saying that, I was weirded out at that point in time because the JMJ was the only accurate Mustang out there at the time with a Fender logo on the headstock, and it had a weird tanline on the pickguard where the tug bar was originally placed on JMJ's personal bass. Plus, it only came in one colour. Nice to copy JMJ's original bass to that level of detail, but I was still surprised!
I'm in the process of buying a fiesta red Vintera Mustang! I'm going to sell my warhorse white PJ Mustang to fund this purchase.
Upon reflection... the PJ Mustang is a great bass. It takes standard pickups, and I think I had four different PJ pickup setups through my bass. I shielded it with copper shielding, stuck a Fender Badass II-style bridge on there, replaced the electronics with CTS and Switchcraft components, and turned it into a solid little gigging bass. The 3-way switch always bothered me, and I never had any real use for the solo'd J pickup.
The Vintera is the bass I would have bought a couple of years ago if it had existed. It is a shame they don't make the Vinteras in olympic white, but I've always wanted a fiesta red Fender of some marque, so this will do!
We are very lucky in the Mustang club, to be honest. When I first went hunting for a Mustang bass my only options were to find a vintage original Fender or a used CIJ reissue. The CIJs had been out of production, or at least not shipped to the UK, for quite some time. The used price of these was pretty all over the map, and I encountered several with P-bass pickups hacked in or bad finish damage.
I bought a used CIJ Mustang and it arrived with the neck off, in a box barely bigger than a shoe box. This was how I joined the Mustang club!
We now have the Vintera, American Performer, PJ, JMJ and Squier CV Mustangs to contend with. You have varying degrees of historic accuracy, and the PJs are out in a whole range of finished through CME.
The only thing missing is a true blue MIA Fender Mustang bass with one pickup and the original-style bridge.
It’s tight, that bag fits like a glove on the Mustang (I have a Pawn Shop) or the Bronco
Just put an order in for a Gruv Gear GigBlade Edge for guitar. Internal length is 43.5” so will report back on the fit
The thread on cases is interesting as I have an American Performer and have just ordered a Vintera and two fender cases is out of the question. I will look into the Gator cases as I have one but it's for a long scale bass which I have now sold. The cases seem real high quality.

Ever since I learned about the "tie a string to strap and tie to headstock instead of fixing onto upper horn" trick to alleviate neck-dive, I've been regretting selling my Mustang PJ (limited edition Surf Pearl). I really loved everything about that bass except for the neck-dive.
I installed a strap button at the upper left neck screw and connect the upper part of the strap there to alleviate neck dive on my Mustang.
