I found a much better, obvious way to install Hipshot Ultralight tuners on my Squier CV Mustang without fussing all about with corrective shimming. Simply communicate with the Hipshot company! (What a concept, right??)
The four HB6L Ultralights (USA model, 1/2") you want to install have 17mm bushings (those large 'ferrules' with the locknut tops), but your CV Mustang's tuner headstock holes are 18mm?
No problem Sparky... Just communicate with Hipshot and they'll send 18mm replacement bushings. These drop right in perfectly, no shimming, no fussing required, and of course the shafts of their USA Ultralight tuners screw as easily into them as any would expect!

I don't know if all you Fender PJ Mustang guys also have 18mm tuner holes in your headstocks? However if you do, and you're considering Ultralights, simply ask Hipshot for the special 18mm bushings to go with them and the HB6 1/2" USA Ultralights will drop right in w/o having to do any fussing with shimming...
Enjoy,
