Fender Mustang Club

My new sweetheart, a '75 Stang originally in Walnut/Mocha that has aged like wine into a beautifully dark and lighting-reactive state. In some lighting the grain really comes alive in a way that I did not expect. I thought all of these "Mocha" ones were more opaque but maybe it depended who was behind the paint gun. Either way I could not be more in love with this thing - the pickups roar with a vintage growl that makes my CIJ model sound *extremely* clean and modern by comparison, but both tones are still distinctly Mustang and a nice compliment of one another. I am also really digging the forearm contour and now wish all Mustangs had it.

I'm actually finishing up one that looks a lot like this. Firemist PJ + maple neck + black pickguard as well. It's a great look! The only differences look to be the knobs, the Hipshot A bridge I'm putting on mine plus the Bartolini pickups. I'll post a picture as soon as it is complete.

Where did you get those knobs? I might have to upgrade those as well.

I found the knobs on ebay a few years ago, they're similar to the Kaish aluminum ones found on Amazon.

I used them because I had them but I may end up with strat knobs. Ive always liked that look on a Mustang.

Hi mustang fans, I need help with a Squier CV Mustang string issue:
Fender’s website says the strings that come on it are “45-105”, and it’s my understanding that Fender strings are made by D’addario (they have the right colored ball ends).
However neither Fender nor D’addadrio sells medium scale rounds sets 45-105.
The closest D’addario strings are 50-105, but I bought a set and the E string is visibly bigger than the strings that came on my mustang.
So where is the error? Are the stock strings on the mustang actually the D’addario 45-100 set? Or is the D’addario 105 somehow fatter than the stock 105?

The end goal here is to replace a Mikey Way mustang strings with the same strings that are on the CV, if that helps.

If I remember correctly, they actually come with long scale strings? I’m sure one line does anyway, maybe JMJ. Either way, long scale fit fine if you make sure you locate them correctly and ensure good winds around the post. I’m using elixir on mine for over a year, sound great.

Dear Mustang-Club-members,

I am new here. I just bought my first mustang bass, it is a Fender Mustang Player II in red. I really love the new neck - the finish, the rolled edges. Also like the pickups a lot. I always wanned a Mustang, normaly I play Danelectro Longhorns. The Mustang is a very different beast. I think Fender made a huge step forward with the fender player ii series; the updates are really good.

I will post a pick soon.

Using long scale would give more options, but it doesn’t solve the mystery of what strings it comes with and how to get more.
The strings are def short or medium scale, they taper right after the nut.

Confirmed, vintera series ships with 45-105 long scale strings.

TY, that’s slightly more information than the fender website had. I will get some and compare, I’m just a little skeptical because the strings on mine look medium scale or short scale and the E string is smaller than 105s I have on other basses.
