I picked up a 2014 Mikey Way Squire Mustang a few weeks ago for a good price,I had been gassing for one for quite a while but they don't show up for sale too often so I jumped on this one.
The silver sparkle has turned a shade of champagne gold over time it seems.
It is slightly heavier than my vintera ii and pj Mustang but lighter than my SS Jaguar bass.
I really didn't like the muddy humbucker so I have fitted some Tonerider Classic P pickups and a new pick guard.
I know I could have fitted traditional Mustang pickups but wanted something a bit different.
After a bit of a set up it plays really well, it's a great addition to my other Mustangs

Mine is the same story: color is more champagne gold, body is heavier than my other mustangs ( this model was basswood), and pickup sucked.

I just completed two weeks on the road gigging every night with a 1972 Mustang Bass. It was great, easy to dial-in in huge rooms and theaters.

I don't know about the Sire gig bag, but my two MIM Mustangs are in the Fender FBSS-610 gig bags. And so is my Sire U5.

The lipstick or the wide range humbucker? I lucked out on a loaded Rascal pickguard with 2 of the humbuckers in it. When time allows I'm putting one first in my Musicmaster, if it all comes out my Mustang parts bass will get the other. Hope the come even close to the tone of the Fender version.
By the time I realized I asked a question you had already answered it was too late to edit. You said humbucker. Monday part 3 I guess.
Can anyone recommend a good and easy nut replacement for Mustangs with a 1.5” nut? In the past I’ve used graphtech, but it looks like the 1.5” nuts are curved bottom and my necks are flat bottom. Any problem with using these? Anyone have a better idea?
it seems two options were the gator GC-ELEC-XL or GW-Jag.
with some trepidation i went with the GW-Jag (model no. 284273) and it proved to be the perfect fit. almost as if it were specifically made for the CIJ mustang.
it may look snug length ways, but the case closes fine. no manipulation needed. no bass wiggle when transporting either.
hope this helps others, although i believe some of the newer mustang models are slightly bigger...
Here's my 68'. Guy I got it from said when he bought it in 73' it had already been refinished and the leather pickguard added. All original other than that. Has ancient rounds on it that I'm praying never break. Toured it around the world in a mono guitar gig bag before retiring it

Add another to the club! 3 Fender Mustangs round here at present, although one is currently in the shop. (The maple-necked bass is currently being restored to an original Mustang-style pickup (Nordstrand) and a replacement pick guard.)
The Mocha basses are 1975 and 1976, and the Competition Burgundy is 1972. I am a lucky dude!

I played my American Performer Mustang for a while this evening. It took a while for me to really appreciate this one, and I’m glad I stuck with it. Plus it looks cool! Every time I have this one out, I want to pick it up.
