Thank you yes still the stock strings but I am planning to change them. I ordered D’Addario halfrounds, Thomastik flats and Ghs bass boomers 45-100 medium scale.
Just came from the music store, have tested the Am Performer for about and hour and abed it with my Pawn Shop. Craftsmanship is top notch, love the finish on the neck. It definitely sound different than the PS, but liked it really much. Sound between both pickups is even, loved the tone with the P pickup fully open and the J pickup at about 50%. They only have 1 in stock in sunburst, just as my PS.
They offered and additional discount because they want to move it, but its still a bit pricey at about $1,400.00. They also offered a fresh set of strings, full setup and a discount on a hard case...

It sho don't look the same when I went there except maybe the grey pebbly walls. Plus there was no park next to it back in '69.
But there was always Paradise Road and Vernalis. Plus we didn't have to wait a year to drag the main roads like you do now. American Graffiti night. Sheesh!

But I did learn Green Onions because of that road. Another Duck Dunn genius bass riff. I have always wondered what he would have thought of these little wonders. There is a wonderful book about Duck. "What Has Donald Duck Dunn Now?!"
