Sorry - I did not see in posts - what pickups did you use on your bass - looks good.
I used Lace Sensor Man-O-War. It was a set I bought for another project, but sound great in the Mustang. If I didn't already have them, I would have bought something a little less expensive, like a Dimarzio or Seymour Duncan set. I have a Dimarzio PJ set in my Squier SS Jaguar and they sound great.
Thanks - I just like them because of no poles pieces show - just plain and flat.

Searching for a picture post of your Mustang, but I'm not seeing it in your previous posts. Maybe I missed it?

Thanks, though it always implies a bit more control than I like to think our small but pleasantly restive group on TB would ever tolerate.
Love reading about and seeing what everyone is doing with these basses. For me. these instruments are da wild bunch.

A decision has been made.
A very wise man once said “Sometimes the best decision is no decision”!
So there will be no NBD announcement forthcoming.
As 50% of the items were taken out of the equation because it only served to remind me why I went to short scale in the first place. While test driving the long scale I detuned it and then re-tuned it my left arm went to sleep and then completely numb ruining me for the day.
Then I was strongly reminded I will be a grandpa again in October and since being one of those grandparents that give them anything they want and dotes on them 150% a new Performer Mustang might not be in my best interests.
Finally I have 4 basses already along with 2 vintage guitars and 2 amps in my possession and I am trying to make room not decrease it.
Since the nays outway the yays NBD has been shelved for the time being. Who is to say the this little bun in the oven may not be a Duck Dunn or Larry Davis reincarnate? Then there will be NBD’s all over the place!
But one benefit did come out of all this. I had the opportunity to play my modified MIM PJ through a 1000w Ampeg SVT Full 6x10 Stack! It was a bit noisy in the store and the sales guy cranked it (realizing his bass sale was going out the window) and after hitting the first 4 count note of White Room it became dead silent in the store. WOW! Those SD’s got everyone's attention!
As soon as the NBD comes off the shelf I shall let you all know.
As my late wife’s favorite guitarist said “Then Play On!”

I have became a short scale bassist due to a neurological condition that makes almos impossible to play a full scale bass for long periods of time. I’m selling 2 o f my 3 6 stringers, and I’m planning on adding an American Performer Mustang later on. Just need to move those 2 Ibanez...
By now, I’m playing a modified Bronco and the Pawn Shop Mustang most of the time.
I recently scored a used Squire VM Mustang in 3TSB with one piece maple neck. Put the LaBella MUS flats on; with just a few minor adjustments it plays / sounds fantastic. It has a Duncan Design split pickup (mustang type). Haven’t seen any feedback on this bass, until I saw it for sale I didn’t know Squire had made them.
I almost went for Chrysler "Inferno Red Metallic" but then quickly talked myself out of it. Decided to stay away from the modern finishes for this project. Returning to my original idea of refinishing the original and nasty, black paint with a couple coats of fresh gloss black and several coats of nitro. Then adding an anodized brass pickguard, matching control cover plate and chrome P-bass control knobs. May or may not install the ashtray bridge and pickup covers. Shooting for the '57 Reissue look even though, alas, it won't have the maple FB/neck. Body's been patched, primed, sanded and ready for painting. But first need to enlarge and clean up the original pickup routing for the Quarter Pounders. Will start posting pics to document the process.
Did you score that on eBay? Saw one like that recently and almost pulled the trigger. I think it sold for around $200. Did it have the black block "inlay" decals on the fingerboard and "Fender Custom Shop" on the back of the headstock? The one I saw also had a poorly installed Fender Mustang waterslide decal over the Squire logo on the front of the headstock.
The shop I took my 'sea foam' green $399 bass to said I could give them an example of any color/finish I wanted and they'd get exact or super close. I sent them this and they nailed it:

Needless to say, when it came back with that paint job and everything else, it wasn't a $399 bass any more.
Worth every penny.

As I believe I mentioned to you Flo when I first joined I almost to my 'Stang into the local classic a car shop to have it repainted Metal Flake Green in honor of my first muscle car. 1965 Olds 442 Rag top w/455ci engingine and dual quads, glass packs which I used to run out on Paradise Road in Modesto Ca. Yours is what I think the kids call today "Da Bomb"! In my day it was "Bitchin"! Either way it is "Way Cool"!
