I thing they want there share of the market . Big sales on fender parts on eBay . At least buying new from fender it's not seconds or used . I hope they start also selling those vintage neck radius 7.25 or vintage reissue body's ete .

I told them to bring back the P fretless maple unlined neck but they don't listen.
Someone buy my fretless neck for $90.

The site says that they are serialized and stamped. Maybe it's a "Replacement Parts" stamp like the previous offerings.

And 500 bucks for a plain jane rosewood board "Made in US-Exico" neck, when I could get a more robustly manufactured neck, with stiffening rods & dual action trussrod by Warmoth, FULLY U.S. made, for about a little over half that Fender asking price, finished? WHY WOULD I BUY THE FENDER?
I think it's an error that it's a US neck and it's made in Mexico. The P-bass necks do not say this.
I think this is pretty decent. I can now order a legit P-bass neck for a fender Jazz body. If they were really smart, they would knock down the US necks by $100, and offer more custom options at the $499 price. Vintage tints and radius, bindings and blocks...could be really cool.

I think you mean "if we were lucky".
That would be a disincentive to them, though. Then people wouldn't buy the complete instruments they sell with those features, in lieu of modding their existing instruments.
These are their most common product's parts just taken off the line and stamped or whatever. I surprised they even offer them somewhat inline with the proportionate costs of complete instruments.
So Fender are selling very expensive necks and bodies. What's that got to do with luthiery? This is supposed to be the luthier's corner...
This is most likely about taking a larger share in the modded bass market. Many guys like Fender basses with after market hardware almost exclusively. The ability to buy a neck and body free of other parts allows Fender to directly compete with Warmoth and other parts companies.
And I agree with Dave, not exactly LC material.

Alrighty, these necks have been around a couple years now so we should hopefully have some more info on them. I HATE the gloss and size of Squier CV 50's P neck, so I ordered the cheaper $200 jazz maple neck to replace it. I hear horror stories all the time about necks not fitting correctly on Squiers, anybody have experience pairing those two up? Or with one of the CV P's like Matt Freeman?

Fender prices are competitive after you pay for Warmoth's finish prices though.
This isn't new for Fender.
Just before the established their Custom Shop, you were able to buy bodies and necks.
