I generally prefer stringing through the bridge (less sharp bends in strings), but.....
with strings being wound longer to accommodate 35 inch scale instruments, on a 4 on a side Fender headstock, a lot of string sets will end up with the fat part of the E string wound around the tuner post. Some folks think this is OK, some avoid it like the plague. With a through body stringing option (I have that on all my basses), you can take up an extra inch or so of string, and this becomes a non-issue.
