Fender P Bass Fake?Parts bass?

So just by eye balling it I can tell you the neck is fake and I’m like 80% sure the body is also. I ordered that pick guard for one of my fenders from Amazon a few years back with the truss rod adjustment pre cut in. I personally wouldn’t trade it if the dude claims its a real fender. I would want to know what every part actually is. I am not saying it’s a bad bass. I’m not even saying it may not be Fender quality. I just don’t get the putting Fender decals on instruments unless you’re trying to trick people. I personally love when killed players rock cheap basses. I don’t love when people lie for a look or lie to try to get one over on someone for a sale.
Thank you!

Do you think this bass is even worth taking a look at.
I wouldn't bother unless it was cash for drastically less than what you have in the trade guitar. There are good enough cheap copies with good parts out there, but if it's me, this would have to be on the quite a bit lower side of the spectrum because from what I can glean from the pics, this doesn't seem like one of the better ones.
Not saying it's completely worthless, but from what I see, you'd be getting the short straw in a trade deal.

If it’s all fake I wouldn’t want to buy it. If body if fender and pickup Duncan, I might buy it and find a new neck and keys. Just looking for some opinions of validity of the parts. Thanks.
It looks like a P bass to me. The brand or country of origin maybe in question but it is a P bass.

Is the price too much or is it being represented as a vintage or American made?

If cheap enough, dose it play well, sound good?

Does it need to preform a function other then a P base?

These are the questions I would be asking myself.

:)

I take it you haven't seen it in person?

The only way to determine what the body is from a distance is to have them take the neck off to show the neck pocket for further evaluation.

Next step is to see it in person and evaluate it against your knowledge of Fender basses based on your collection.

Thank you, but I’ve never taken the neck off of one of mine. What should I see under. That’s not completely true. I bought a 1961 jazzmaster in 1974. I was 16 and too young to be worried about messing it up. I loosened the neck to see the date. I don’t remember what was in the neck pocket. I did the same thing to my first bass a 1964 precision in 1977. I loosened the neck enough to see the date. I don’t remember what the neck pocket looked like. I’m not really sure I even looked at it. What I’m saying is I don’t know what to look for in a neck cavity. What should I look for. This guy is probably not going to be happy about me taking the neck off his bass.

the guy is representing it as a fender. He did not say what country it was from.

Here is his description:

really nice looking and perfect playing fender bass with a classic vibe to it. guitar is pretty much as new, not too many signs of use on it. pickups and knobs all work well. comes in a soft case for a guitar so the headstock sticks out the top - it's all i have, sorry. I'm looking to sell or trade (mostly interested in trading) for other interesting musical instruments. i play woodwind and brass as well as guitar and bass so i'm pretty much open to anything.

Well if someone is selling a "real" Fender anything, they would not be adverse to removing the neck. In fact most people show that in their ads along with pots and pot dates.

In this post...Is Fender P Bass Fake?Parts bass? https://www.talkbass.com/members/glazenn.193227/ mentions the squared-off neck end. If it's a real Fender body the neck pocket will be either round with the neck forced in or the pocket will show that it has been reworked to make the neck fit. And again, if it's real there might be date and QC stamps still in the pocket if it's a real Fender or Squier product.

So it's possible he doesn't know what he has, to give him the benefit of the doubt.
If not, it's a scam. Either way, is it worth it to you? Regardless, this is not a Fender made bass or Squier made for that matter.
