Fender P Bass Neck Plate

I’m trying figure out what the date of this bass is I’m thinking 1975. But I read there a different design on the neck that change the dating period.

I’m debating about selling it and need to know verify I have.

The number are 585363.

Probably better off looking inside the neck pocket for dates.

1975 typically starts with 600000.
There always seems to be exceptions...

pots and pickup dates would also help date...

Also, it's probably common knowledge that you can special order Fender neckplates with your custom serial numbers (and aging) from vendors on the internet, so a numbered plate isn't necessarily original.

If you're going to be offering that PB for sale online, the people will ask for the numbers from the neck heel, pictures of pots etc. Your best bet is to unscrew it, take pictures of everything and post them here for verification.

Pots will also have a date code… but they could’ve been sitting around the factory for a year or two before being put in your bass.

There you have it - those pickups were clearly made on Heptadecember 38, 1975.

Now it would be nice if the value of these basses would catch up with those in the mid to late sixties!!
