Fender Pawn Shop '72 RW

i would love a hollow-body fender tele bass with j pickup in the bridge, p-pickup in the middle and a mudbucker in the neck. This would be a nice responce to the musicman big al an the godin shifter basses :)

Best Buy has it up on their site

Surf green Strat thinline design similar to the Tele Thinline. Same looking pickups anyway.

I like how Fender got itself off the hook for quality control on their finishing by convincing people a "road worn" look was a desirable thing. Now that people seem willing to pay full price for bad paint and ugly wood they're home free.

Time was when anything that looked like that either got scrapped, or marked as a "second" and got sold at a substantial discount.

Looks like Fender is once again leading the guitar world with daring innovation! :p

Um bro, that aint no bass.

It could be anything - the Pawn Shop series guitars are 'guitars that never were, but should have been' and none of them feature pickup configurations available on other Fender models.

The guitars are actually quite interesting and definitely something different from Fender. Whether the bass follows suit, remains to be seen.

I know. The question was what would a PawnShop 72 RW look like. That thinline is what it looks like. Cuz there ain't no such thing as a PawnShop 72 RW bass.

AFAIK Fender hasn't announced there will even be a Pawn Shop bass yet. What "word" there is isn't even a solid rumor.

So far Fender has only announced a Mustang, a Strat, and a StratThinline for the series. Any talk about PS basses is only coming from regular users in the Fender forums as a suggestion one be made. And so far, that suggestion hasn't gotten any response from Fender last I looked.

(Besides, the 50's style Squire P-Bass is already selling well. And rightly so IMO! So why should they bother with yet another model?)

That original link was to an empty spot in the basses section of the fender website..
If you look at basses, then "classic" then you see what appears to be a space for an as yet unannounced bass..

You are not correct. Check the Fender site. That's why I started this thread. It's there but no pic and no specs.

Not a problem. If that's the case, I stand corrected.

Could you post links when you get a chance? I love to stay on top of what Fender is up to. It's kind of a hobby.

UPDATE:

Ok...

Just got off the phone with Cameron over at Fender HQ. He said that Fender has not announced any basses are to be included in the PawnShop line-up. And he doesn't see any information that inducates one is being planned. He suspects the rumor might have started because there were a few new Squire basses that were mentioned in the same press release as the PS series announcement. He's guessing some people may have linked the two together because of it.

He did say not to completely rule out ever seeing a bass in the PS series however. Fender is constantly refining and improving its product lineup based on customer input. So it's not a done deal there won't ever be one.

But officially (as of now :D ) the only PS models in the works are the three guitars previously mentioned.

Well Cameron needs to check out the website. Try googling:
fender model 0266202321

It will take you to the link on their website.

fender bass fail again. like taking an extra year to come out with the american special basses and letting them be underwheming. double fail. they should be coming out with some $400 MIM basses and get their heads out of their butts with their overpriced $599 MIM standards and $1000 road worns.
