Actually, when (not if) the PS bass comes out, I'm guessing it will have the 50's style body and Tele type neck, but they'll go your direction with the pickup combo. Be nice if they offered it in 2-tone burst or a beat to hell cocaine/Olympic white or aged cream.
That's what I like about Fender. It's such a simple design, you can take it in twenty different directions and still not crap it up to where it's not playable.

I'm more interested in the other one (the 70's P-bass with what looks like (if I understand the code right) a natural finish and maple neck.

Personally, I'd love this to be a bass just like this '73 Tele bass but with a J pickup in the bridge position.
