Fender Pawn Shop '72 RW

Now you're playing along! That sounds sweet but it would have me way confused.

I'm guessing it'll be an ash p bass body with a jazz neck and pj pups with the j in the 70's position and wait here's the twist:

A selector switch!

Basically a fender p-plus with a j neck and a rw finish.

Oooo!
That sounds sweet too... I'll take one of each please!

Actually, when (not if) the PS bass comes out, I'm guessing it will have the 50's style body and Tele type neck, but they'll go your direction with the pickup combo. Be nice if they offered it in 2-tone burst or a beat to hell cocaine/Olympic white or aged cream.

That's what I like about Fender. It's such a simple design, you can take it in twenty different directions and still not crap it up to where it's not playable.

Wish cars were like that. :D

Bwahahaha! I blew coffee all over the monitor. ALLSUM!

Personally, I'd love this to be a bass just like this '73 Tele bass but with a J pickup in the bridge position.

am i the only one to wish for a simple classic 70s p-bass and not any weird bass designs?? :D

You know, a US Std P-bass is very much like a '70s P-bass but with a slightly narrower neck and better construction. From any distance, they will appear identical.

I think the point of this new pawn-shop gimmick is to offer faux-modded basses that might or might be cool.

Example - a few posts back, someone posted a Tele bass and said they'd like to see a J-bass p'up in the bridge position... Well, back in "the day" we'd PUT A J PICKUP IN THE BRIDGE POSITION. I know, that seems utterly out of control these days...

But I think that's what Fender trying to make more money off of. I'm sure it will work - Fender puts their name on Guitar Hero controllers & cell phones and people can't seem to get enough.
