Fender Pawn Shop '72 RW

am i the only one to wish for a simple classic 70s p-bass and not any weird bass designs?? :D

In my idea of a perfect world, my amp would only have a volume knob. And my bass would have no onboard controls at all.

Used to work that way for the upright cats. Why not for us transverse players?

Unfortunately, my technique is not so great that I can pull everything I want out of my bass with bare hands alone.

But I'll keep trying.

Fortunately, I never was into pedals, so I've got it down to V/T/M/B on the amp and passive V/T on most of my basses.

Someday I'll be free. (Just gotta practice and play a lot more than I do first!) :D

And now it's not on the webpage anymore...real picture coming soon, I hope?

Hmmm,... I hope so too! I asked my artist rep last week about the Pawnshop Bass & he hadn't heard about it. :hmm:

I did, however, get a sneak-peak at a soon-to-be-released new tube bass amp. Vintage styling & sexy!

When is it gonna be out?! I'm still curious..but getting tired of waiting.

I seem to recall hearing August was the target ship date for the Pawnshop line.

Also bounced the bass question off a friend who's in purchasing for one of the huge mail/online music dealers. According to him, Fender has zero plans for putting a bass in the PS lineup so far. He also directly put the question to *his* Fender rep and got a blank look plus a "News to me. Where did you hear that?" response.

My bud said he thought the rep was being on the level with him about it and seemed genuinely surprised by the question. He also said whenever there's something a rep can't talk to him about they usually just say so. So it's not like it's some big Area 51 thing when a company is trying to keep stuff under wraps.

My buddy said he thought it likely they would do a PShop bass if the customer demand for the guitars was good. Which makes perfect sense since it's mostly the name and a few mods that makes something a PShop model.

Either way I'm looking forward to the release of the series. My guitarist GF already has designs on that Mustang, so she'll probably be getting one as soon as they're out. She's looking for something a 'little bit different' to add to her collection. It's also something to start her on filling up a second 7-slot guitar rack!

(Note: Do yourself a really big favor. If you're going to have a "significant other" try your best to get one that's also a musician. It makes for a huge difference in domestic tranquility. Especially when it comes to equipment purchasing discussions. Trust me on this one.) :D

I found a picture of the Pawnshop Jazz in the Fender EBrochure. Looks great guys.
