Next time I go to my friends store I'll take some photos of his basses.
He has a 1965 jazz with lollipop tuners and a 1962 P bass. Both 3TS with Tort guards. Great basses, but a little too overpriced (This is in OZ)

Zacmac, I love the amber tone to that sunburst. That's the best way to improve those mid 60's sunbursts IMO...let the nitro age and yellow from use.

I prefer the 62..err...no..actually, I love both of them,..sweet ... does the 66 have 'lollypop' tuners?

The refin if my !62 is done!! We needed to cover some screw holes and I like lots of red and a heavy black margin. Turned out just the way I wanted.

Hoping I can get into the club with my old Precision, although the headstock doesn't have a decal anymore and I can't find a date on the refinished neck. I got it very used in 1974, with cracks in both the body and neck, so it's been repainted a few times. The neck/headstock crack was repaired well before I got it, but it has held for over 40 years. I replaced the pickups with Alembic active sometime in the '70's to quiet it down for the studio. I foolishly chromed the metal parts so the tuning machines chewed themselves up until I replaced them. I attached a picture of the original, reverse wind tuners. The serial number is 1960-61, according to Fender. All features match up to this date.

Yes, the congratulations belong to my luthier, I will pass it along when I pick it up! I can't get there 'til Friday argh.

There is 14 costs of clear nitro on there. The price he is charging is silly low. I better tip him. I wish I could do more to promote him in his city but I'm 100 miles away and not part of that music scene.

Yep. It's just the photo. It was bumpy and dust trapped in the finish and the sides of the body still had vestiges of black sunburst paint on them. The neck finish was an absolute mess, laquer over sweat stains, bumpy, dirt trapped. Now it is white as snow; gotta get some uv on it to yellow the nitro.
