I have a killer 64 P I might sell. All original except some spray on back/touch up. Have a chance to grab a 62 p to match my 62 j so thinking of letting this great bass go to cover. Wanted to let club know before posting

Here are a couple that are long gone but really enjoyed when I owned them in the 90's.
First up, a Tadeo Gomez made Fender Precision bass w/ neck date of TG 7-21-52, and body date of 9-2-52 Tadeo. The serial number was 0427. This was an odd ball sporting a primitive 2 color sunburst about a 1 1/2 before Fender did sunbursts. Also, the pg was non anodized aluminum, with what looked to be the original tug bar. I showed George Gruhn [a weird bird] and called George Fullerton [a complete gentleman], but neither could conclude authenticity of the finish or pg. Whoever did both, be they employee one offs, prototype, or aftermarket, took great care to make sure the pg fit like it was original. There was no decal on the headstock [I received one from Fender]. The pickup was from a 68 Telecaster bass. Everything else was original.

It was a great player and used it often. My slide into slabs started after discovering Keith Ferguson years earlier. Can't remember who I sold it to or why. I'm sure it was for the next bass, it usually is
I even tried a cowhide pg for a time.
Next is a 1956 P Bass. Found this refin in pieces and made an offer, put it together, and really enjoyed the light weight & V profile neck, my first. For some reason I have no record of dates or serial number. I didn't keep it long and have no recollection why I sold it. Here's me caught sleeping on the job again.

Love this club - what a gracious community! Thought I was an 'expert' but I'm still learning from you guys. I've been playing/collecting vintage Fender since the late '70s. I've owned some all original beauties in the past (including '53 P #0834 from Detlaf's book), but have kept a few players in the collection. These are all seeing a lot of action, mostly rehearsals and recording, to this day. Club number please!

- 1-57 neck, all original. Bought in '96 from Guitar Oasis for $500, repro light ash body, finish by Fiesta Finishes. Period correct bridge plate, control plate. SD pickup, other parts are repro. Would love to have a gold anodized PG for this one! No case, looking for a decent used G&G.
- Recent Craigslist buy. s/n 48716 on bottom of neck plate. No pencil date on neck, appears to be '58 or early '59. Refin, but original frets, tuners, nut. Body pencil date 5/60, originally SB. Original PG, knobs, bridge. PUs are recent Fender. Came in a silver/blue '60s case, exact dimensions as Fender OEM. Not sure if the body and neck were put together from parts. Bought from the family of a deceased player who had a huge collection. This was the only vintage piece.
- '63 P-bass. s/n L00414, 5OCT63C. I was gifted this bass by a friend who left playing music for the monastery. Original except for body only Fiesta Red refin by Lays in the mid 90s. When I got it, had a clear orange refin. Original white case, covers.
- '63 J-bass, s/n L20028, 7DEC63A. Bought in '79 for $325. All original except SB body had been stripped and walnut stained, and a brass nut. Body only refin in Burgundy Mist Metallic ~'84 by a guy named Dudley who worked for Fender. After 30+years, very fine weather checking, looks so right it has fooled many experts! Was my main bass until recently, used on many recordings and gigs. Original white case, covers.
- '64 J-bass, s/n L23796, 7JAN64A Bought in '89 for $650 from Pete's Guitar, St. Paul, MN. Sunburst refin over sunburst. "All the wear was already there" as they say. New frets. I had it de-fretted during my 'Jaco' period, as many did. Set up with EMGs and repro tuners but I have the original parts.
