Zipper Storage Bags were patented by Robert W. Vergobbi on May 18, 1954. In the same year, Minigrip licensed them as pencil bags. In 1968, Dow Chemical Company began marketing them.

Pay no attention to them.
Please preserve history carefully; there are not many custom colors in this condition.
While this may be more comparable to a painting rather than a musical instrument, I doubt that there are more than a dozen that are this complete with accessories (assuming all is as it appears).
BTW, where do you think the custom shop went years ago when they needed to copy old instruments? They borrowed examples like this.

Beautiful instrument.I have a 1961 Jazz that I only use nowadays for studio/home use.If mine was in that condition (Mine is all original,lots of player wear),I would do the same w/mine like you are yours.That bass is DEFINITELY Smithsonian Institute material.But,on the other side of things,I just absolutely LOVE looking at old,player-worn basses and wonder what stories they could tell if they could talk.

Beautiful cabinet,BTW.Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes display cases similar to the one in Peplaici's photos?????Website would be appreciated.Thanx.

Out of shear curiosity,I would LOVE to know how much value is increased due to the "never been played" statement as opposed to an excellent condition(9.5 out of 10.0)P-Bass.

Dear friend.... This display in a 100 years old piece of furniture I've bougth in Geneva's flee market... I've spent a lot of money having it restaured !!!! I think it's unique...
It was a gun's display !!! I fouded on the floor plenty of dust on it. Broken glasses... Humid smell inside... But sudenly see in my mind what it would become !!!
My eye understood that it was exactly the length of a Fender bass...

I've don't now exacltly how much wolud be this bass value at the present day... I wouldn't talk about money here...
This appraisal is dated on 2005... I've hiden the price but anyway...things have really changed since the appraisal was written... Things have also changed since I've bougth the bass...

I would trade it against a PB 1959-62 Slab Board... Even if it's not in such a good condition as mine...

How about for a 1960 slab board; all original except for a refinish, no pup cover, and a 1970's Fender case?
It is a fine example of the wide flat neck these instruments are known for and plays and sounds perfectly.

is that a three way strap with the extension that attaches
to the back of the headstock?

A truly amazing instrument you have there
wish i still had my 64 jazz
but it's long gone..

Yes it is.... I've got another of those straps with my 69 Sunburst Jazz Bass... But the one that came with the PB is still folded into a really old white paper...

I can't really say I've played this bass... That kind of old flat-wound strings are not my kind of strings... But I don't dare to put my favourite Rotosound round wound on it !!!
