Fender Precision standard cost?

I've loved EMGs when I've had them in jazz basses, never had one in a P but those Geezers sure get a lot of love.

What you paid is on the upper end of the spectrum, but I don't believe you necessarily paid "too much" in the sense that you got ripped off or something.

The price was a little much on average, I guess, but what if it's a good bass? I know I paid a little much when I bought my 89 Corona 60's reissue Precision, but it's a fantastic bass that I love, and I don't regret buying it. If the one you bought plays and sounds like it looks, I think you're good to go.

I don't understand why you bought it and then decided to research if it was too much money.

I did and pulled the trigger on this one because it seemed like a good deal for a standard Fender. However, I was going through the description again and the fact the seller ignored my first question. That's when I started to worry. You know how buying online is. It ain't easy for big purchases sometimes.

The seller emailed me back and now believes it may be passive after all because he saw no battery. Didn't mention anything about removing the pickguard to check. This seller seems to have good feedback so no reason not to trust them. It's a Guitar shop I think.

Shipping usually for a bass guitar is around $120-90. Case is there with all the case candy. 2012 Fender Precision that looks in great shape so the price seems reasonable. Probably could have offered $900. Just trying to figure out what this EMG pickup is

The EMG pickup is likely the geezer butler one which is passive. I honestly prefer the tone of the stock pickups.

That's what I was looking for brustfirewolf. Passive Fender P but I got this one due to the blacked out pickguard, body and maple neck. Could always buy a Fender stock pickup to replace I guess.

If it turns out to be passive. Will ask the seller if we can work out a refund of a portion of the cost for the inaccurate description.

I paid $1150 (£850) for a 2011 60th anniversary 6 months ago in vgc. The price of these models just seems to be on the rise. In 2009 I paid £900 for a brand new model with the same spec as yours (but all standard) and it was a cracker, one of those ones I shouldn`t have let go. A brand new P Professional P bass in the UK is approx $1850 which is frankly ridiculous!

If you think it`s worth the money, then it is, simple as!

Lol. That chart indicates the OP paid more than anyone else has. I've done that, though, with no regrets. The price is worth it if the bass is worth it.

Wow, $1850? I've heard Rickenbackers are also not cheap in the UK as they can be here in the states. I've seen the Ricks priced at around $1450 here for the standard walnut version without the stereo option.

Most I've ever paid will be this Fender. I was able to get a German made Warwick $$ for $750 and a passive Spector NS2A for $750 as well. No tonepump but the Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders sound pretty good in that body shape.

Ricks in the UK go from around $2370 for a 4003s Jetglo to $3100 for a 4003/5 string.

Sorry, the 5 string is the S model as well. A 4003 in Fireglo can be $3100.

Hi all. I just bought a 2012 Fender Precision P-Bass W/ Active EMG Pick-ups Black + OHSC Candy. I paid about $1195

Is that a lot for one of the previous iterations of Fender Precision basses? I have read they are better than the new Player line. Not sure how the active EMG will sound. Hoping it gives me that P bass tone but I guess it will be active instead of passive now.

Just curious. Thanks.

Its an OK deal if there was no routing done to make place for a battery.
If its passive pickups its even better IMO.

If that EMG's a Geezer Butler, there a number of cats here who absolutely rave about theirs. If I were shopping this bass or one like it, I would not be troubled by whatever pickup that ended up being.

The case adds value and is seldom included on the used market. Paperwork usually gets lost too.

I was just worried it wouldn't sound like a Fender Precision if the pickup wasn't stock.

It sounds a bit pricey, but if the original pickup is included you have the option of replacing it and selling the EMG. That would make the sale more economically friendly. The bass in the pic is nice enough, so if you're happy that's all that matters. I'd rather shell out a couple of extra bucks to get a bass I'm really happy with than to settle for an okay bass for less. It doesn't sound like you got a bargain.

It’s a nice looking bass and looks to be in good condition.

It sold for $1249. Brand new in 2012. With stock pick-ups.

The price is high, but looks nicer than most, it’s very complete with the case, accessories and includes shipping.

Average for a 2012 on Reverb is $850 to $900 for a bass with more wear, less complete and no free shipping. If your buying the best example of the model bass on Reverb, your going to have to pay more, most of time.

Personally, I would like to play before buying, but the seller has a return policy if it’s a real bummer to play.

I think with any of the options it'll sound like a Precision should sound, though I'm certainly curious as to what specific pickups those are (HZ or Geezer).

The main thing that seems to be missing from the original case candy is the truss rod wrench. Might want to consider picking one of those up so that you can adjust it yourself.
