I really regret reading that post. Too late now. Please refer to post #204
As the author of post #204, I'd like to clarify that I was only explaining what I perceived to be the meaning behind MrAB4003's intentional misspelling of Fender and the ubiquitous disdain for the company and its basses that so many apparently get satisfaction from displaying. I do not agree with it nor do I find it interesting, but it's appears to be part of life on Talkbass.I really regret reading that post. Too late now.
You’re spot on! The number 7 looks like the F in the Fender logo. In TB parlance, there’s a negative connotation of the brand when using the 7 instead of the F.As the author of post #204, I'd like to clarify that I was only explaining what I perceived to be the meaning behind MrAB4003's intentional misspelling of Fender and the ubiquitous disdain for the company and its basses that so many apparently get satisfaction from displaying. People using it should be told that it comes across as both weakly passive and just dumb instead of the dismissive snark it’s intended to be.You’re spot on! Especially if it implies that Fenders are inferior to Squiers, which is laughable.People using it should be told that it comes across as both weakly passive and just dumb instead of the dismissive snark it’s intended to be.
I started using the 7 because it looked more like the F in the word Fender than the letter F. I later learned about the connotation behind the 7 and I kept using it because I’m not a Fender fanboy.People using it should be told that it comes across as both weakly passive and just dumb instead of the dismissive snark it’s intended to be.
I guess Fender is exactly like Rickenbaker in that regard then....Especially if it implies that Fenders are inferior to Squiers, which is laughable.
The problem with Fender is the lack of quality control that often lets sloppy units out the door. Unacceptable at any price and tarnishing to the brand.
But snark doesn't help that at all.
<facepalm> Now you’ve done it.I'm surprised that the faction here that seems to be constantly searching for the cheapest playable bass doesn't call Squier 8quier
Not anymore. Rickenbacker basses are been the best they’ve ever been since Ben Hall took over in 2022.I guess Fender is exactly like Rickenbaker in that regard then....
We’ll see, did they change their pathetic warranty policy? Not anymore. Rickenbacker basses are been the best they’ve ever been since Ben Hall took over in 2022.
They pronounce it “thquier” though.I'm surprised that the faction here that seems to be constantly searching for the cheapest playable bass doesn't call Squier 8quier
Not much you can do to the Player series. Straight, basic P bass that IMHO works well. Getting a little pricey though. Not necessarily a prediction, but I wonder if they’ll do anything new with the Player line. That series will be 6 years old in 2024, and relatively unchanged since its introduction save for a couple of new colors.
