MIM Fender will continue to be trash quality for exorbitant prices while Squier puts out higher quality, more interesting basses at 1/3 the cost. Fender US will introduce some "new" versions of the same old s*** in the same tired color combos.

I replaced hardware, pickguard, wiring harness, basically my MIM Jazz,s only two differences are: who operated the CNC machine ( same machine as in the U.S.?), and about $800.00 less. I dont think its trash. Your kidding right?MIM Fender will continue to be trash quality for exorbitant prices while Squier puts out higher quality, more interesting basses at 1/3 the cost. Maybe a Talkbass special option:
A contoured, slightly modified P-style body, two humbuckers, a pickup selector switch, a series/parallel switch, an active/passive three-way switch with treble boost. Give it a Spanish sounding name, like "El Tookay"
I wish the American Standard Jaguar Basswould come back with some cool colors like Seafoam Green…never understood why it was dropped so quick and why the non surfy colors.
I think a refresh of the Pro II and a refresh of the Player lines will be coming around.
I don't see them holding off on roasted maple for mass production basses for much longer, I think roasted or non roasted would be a better choice for the Player rather than maple vs pau ferro
If they go with roasted maple, I'll be especially glad I bought my Am Pro II when I did - sure, roasted can look nice, but for me the primary reason for having a maple fretboard is the contract between the board, and the dots, in low light conditions.
Roasted maple is as bad as Rosewood & clay dots, in that respect.
About the only thing they could change on the Am Pro II Precision is the pickup - and that's not because there's anything wrong with the V-Mod II pickups, it's just that the original V-Mod on the original Am Pro Precision was so divisive (with more people disliking, and replacing them, than liking them) that it did the whole V-Mod notion some reputational harm.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if they just throw in the towel, and stick the CS62 in by default (although sticking with the V-Mod II would mean more people would get to know / like them, and for those that don't, Fender probably makes an additional sale of a CS, or PV pickup).
I don't think they'll go for the fully contoured neck heel just yet - I'd imagine they're keeping that upgrade in their back pocket, for a much later date.
Once stock is sufficiently low, they can theoretically tell us about the updates (or replacements). I think they'll be mostly the same but in different colors (except black and sunburst), and maybe using rosewood again instead of pau ferro. Not only are prices down, AMS and Zzounds have dropped almost all the colors available for the Player. Wonder if that means anything.

Maybe a headless Fender? They'll try something reasonably new and innovative, then not back it well, then give up on it and cancel it way too soon, before it has any chance to become popular. As usual.
These really seemed to flop. I keep looking for a cheap body to make a mark hoppus style P out of it!
