Nothing about it being simpler, that's up to the player not the instrument. Chicks dig it because of the low frequencies, it makes things vibrate... and they like watching you use your fingers for four hours at a gig.

It should say right on the headstock. on my '08 MIM Jazz its right under the fender logo.

If the serial number starts with a letter M, it is Mexican. If the serial number starts with a Z, it is American, made in the 2000s. If the serial is down by the heel of the neck, it is Japanese.
