fender princeton amp

I was at a pawn shop today and ran across a fender princeton guitar amp. it looked pretty old. its $225. Does anyone know any info about them.

In one of my old bands the GOOD guitarist used a Princeton because it was small enough that he could crank it all the way up and not be too loud. I wish EVERY guitarist was so smart.

It all depend on what exactly it is. The Princeton is a great small amp, but they vary a lot over the decades. Is it a Princeton or a Princeton Reverb? Is the control panel black, or is it silver? Does it have an accessory AC outlet in the back or not? You'd be better off finding a guitar amp forum that knows about old Fender amps to find out more about its value, etc.

There's also the newer Princeton which is solid state and stereo.

thanks, I wasn't paying as good attention as I should have so I don't remember in detail what it looked like. I'm gonna go back on monday and check it out. I'm gonna do some research on fender serial number too.

Well, the Princeton Reverb has reverb and the Princeton does not. I'm not trying to be glib; that's really the difference. The Princeton Reverb is a bit more desirable, but they are the same amp otherwise. The tube version has the same output section as the Deluxe/Deluxe Reverb - a pair of 6V6's. My first amp was a '67 Princeton Reverb; I wish I had it back.
