????? Fender Pro 800 Head... Anybody Here Has An Opinion About It ?????

Hi everybody.

I just spotted a Fender Pro 800 Head, and I'm tempted.

Apparently, the head is in pretty good shape, salve some rackrash on top... Apparently, it's working flawlessly...

I want to be able to power up to two SVT 810's... so the ability to run it at 2homs is great.

It's meant to be a spare head, in case something goes wrong on stage with my 70's SVT head and I need backup... It will sit on top of the SVT head. That Fender is apparently 35lbs... Not lightweight, but more so than my present backup, a 1968 Traynor Custom Special YBA-3...

Anybody here as experience about the Fender 800 Pro head and would like to share it ?

The guy wants 400 for the head... Is this a little steep ?

In fact, it's meant to be a spare head, but I don't always have two SVT 810 on stage... just the od time when the stage is big enough, but I still want the spare head to be able to power two SVT 810's... :hiding:

So most of the time, the spare head will be on top of my old SVT. :bassist:

The width of the Traynor is larger than the SVT... and it weights a ton, I get really scared sometimes on shaky stages... that's mainly why I'm thinking about having a lighter spare head up there. ;)

I have a Bassman 300 Pro tube head and it's extremely clean and versatile, probably my favorite amp head I've ever owned. I played on an either a 400 or 800 Pro for recording a while ago and it was just about the same-clean, versatile, and sounded great.

I recently purchased an 800 Pro for an unbelievable price and am just floored at how great this head sounds.

I play Classic R&R, Alt. Rock, Pop & Country. I also play in a 7 piecce band with 2 horns, keys and 3 guitarists.

I play thru an Ampeg 610 as well as a Dr. Bass 115. Both cabs are 4 ohms and I play them as stand alone cabs, not together.

Clean head, unbelievable low end. Actually need to dial out the bass. This head can cop any tone I want. It may be clean, but it has a meaty tone. There is a lot of weight to the notes that are being played. The 800 reproduces the sound of the bass you are using fairly accurately with an ever so slight "Fender" coloration to the tone.

The compressor works great and the room enhance control is "very" useful.

The head also takes pedals very well. I sometimes run a Tech 21 VT pedal thru the 800 or an MXR Phase 90.

Thee 800Pro really shines at outdoor gigs where the head and cabinet are allowed to bloom for lack of a better term.

The power cord is a proprietary cord from Fender, so keep that in mind. Do not lose the cord!

Finally, the head is 2 Ohm stable!
