Completely missing the point. I didn't bring up Harley, but in any case no one said Fender nor Harley never do things outside their core. And we know what percentage of electrics HD is moving (it's in the low single digits).

Listen, it's dumb to generalize about that what that many people, born over 2 decades, would think about fender modernizing their instruments or anything else. It's just as dumb as " all gen Xers are lazy and entitled", or "all millennials are fat and live in Mom's basement". Maybe a majority wouldn't care for them, who knows? I doubt seriously that any would "raise hell" about it.
What’s funny about the Dimension is by the time I warmed up wanting to buy one they were discontinued. And now used prices for MIA Deluxe Dimension are crazy. One that looks like that?
(Seriously, putting a 2x2 headstock on a Boxer doesn't help at all...it's every bit as uninspiring.)
The same as most of their other new ideas...no way will it fly.
Here's the best non-traditional bass they've ever made and we all know how this was received.

I feel exactly the same way. What’s funny about the Dimension is by the time I warmed up wanting to buy one they were discontinued. And now used prices for MIA Deluxe Dimension are crazy.
Should, coulda, woulda
The other FSO...Has anyone mentioned G&L yet?
This will reach 15 pages in two days, and nothing new will have been said.
i don't see me getting excited one way or another. i like FSOs because of the myriad choices in replacement parts and pieces. many of my axes look like a fender product, but they're not, so: i've saved money while having equal-to-better instruments. if ibanez had the same replacement parts paradise = some of my axes would look more like ibbys. How would you feel if Fender went about making a modern looking bass instead of thier traditional body styles, and headstocks.
I was unaware of that. Interesting.Tried it already with the Heartsfield line.
+1 for correct usage of the expression, btw.I couldn't care less...
It WAS interesting. I played a couple...they weren't bad. But I figured that for just a little bit more, I could go around the corner from that store and get a similar bass built but to my specs.I was unaware of that. Interesting.
50 now, but who's counting?Wouldn't really consider a design that's been rehashed many times? in the past 40 years as "modern".
