I have the same paint job on my heartfield DR. Probably came from the same factory.
Not at all. The Heartfields were built by Fuijigen in Japan, the US Plus series were built in Corona, CA.

I simply want a 24 fret Jazz Bass! It's beyond my comprehension that they havent done that yet. I've been told that the longer neck would throw off the physics of the bass and alter it's inherent sound, but shouldnt that be the consumers choice? Recently I bought a used Ultra just to check one out... waiting on delivery... it will be the first 22 fret neck I've played on since 1980.
I have never in my life owned a traditional Precision Bass or Jazz Bass, and I can confidently state that I never will, because I have never liked either of them and never will.
...
And if I can’t get that, then I’ll get a Sandberg California TT5, which is nearly identical, and still almost nothing like a traditional Jazz Bass or Precision Bass.

As a player, I think I understand what you meant, but the average person, I think, would not understand your saying that when the heritage is so apparent visually. Did not know that. Not at all. The Heartfields were built by Fuijigen in Japan, the US Plus series were built in Corona, CA.
These were made by Cort under contract with Fender.

How would you feel if Fender went about making a modern looking bass instead of thier traditional body styles, and headstocks. Think something along the lines of their MB4/MB5 design, but with: slight body/headstock modifications, active electronics, quality wood, quality pickups, and hardware. Basically a higher end MIA Model. View attachment 4376640
They may sometimes look a little off, but I have a dream of one day having a 6 lb PJ, so if it takes having a body that looks off, I'm there![]()
What model is that.. and do they still make it?

Amper, you are correct it is a FJB+V, only the electronics are Kubicki...FTR, that is not a “Fender Kubicki Jazz Bass”, it is a Fender Jazz Bass Plus V. The only thing Kubicki about it was that Phil designed the preamp.
This is one of Fenders forays into "Modern Looking" Basses, it is a 1990 Fender Jazz Bass Plus V in Blue Burst with Lace PUPs, I have owned it since new (Bought in 1991) and love it, the neck is fantastic and wonderful to play. I had to scrap the Kubicki electronics (About 5 years ago) and went totally passive, I could have probably messed with the electronics a bit but when I went totally passive it opened up the basses low and high end immensely IMHO. Luckily someone on here wanted the Kubicki electronics so they got recycled...
