Fender Quality Control???

So I spoke to a rep at Fender today. They obviously wouldn't take responsibility for this, which I understand. What they are going to do is send me a letter on their letterhead stating that this particular bass and the serial number attached is a Jazz. Since I like the way it plays and will have this letter (in case I ever want to sell it), I will probably end up keeping it.

The more I look at it, the more I think you have a Jazz neck with a P decal. Kinda cool.

Brandon,

I was curious, so I held a tape measure up to the neck of my Am. Special Precision. I did my best to hold it in the exact same way it is held in the photo and tried my best to look at it from the same angle from which the photo was taken. The neck on Precision ended up being exactly 1/8" wider than what is shown in the photo.

Scientific? Heck no! But based on what I saw I'm going to have to fall on the side of the fence that says you've got the right Jazz Bass neck and the wrong decal. Interesting conversation piece you've got there! Enjoy your new bass.
