Bingo. As someone who worked in music retail management, I can vouch that those two reasons are deal killers. The third reason is being forced to buy Tens of Thousands of dollars worth of gear the vendor *mandates* you to buy.

And it speaks volumes that FMIC has to 'force' dealers to carry their other, less desirable gear - sound equipment, etcetera.

I have had the discussion in many L&M shops in my neck of the woods, asking them about the bass equipment they stock. I get the same answer, regardless of the store... " We stock what sells in our geographic area". Based on that, I tend to think that I live in an area that has a ton of beginner bassists!
