Fender Rumble 500 head

now (due to space) I'm running a Markbass 102P 2x10.

I do this as well, and I often add my Markbass Traveler 1x15. I really love my tone now, and I've never received as many compliments on my tone as I have with this particular setup (Rumble 500 v3).

I would love to try before buying, but the selection is very limited in my town.
I tried the Rumble and sounded good, I loved the tone hammer 500 but is 300$ more.
Im familiar with the Gk tone and I like it too, but i feel like trying something different.
hopefully I can make a good choice!

Can’t go wrong with any of your choices they are all nice and have their own tonal characteristics, it just comes down to what your ears want to hear..good luck!!

FWIW if you are not able to try them I would go with the Rumble. It is the king of cheap, reliable volume and the matching cabs are light compared to others (I have the 410 and 115 and can carry the 115 with one hand). As far as the tone goes, I play an Ibby SR505 through it and love it. I play Rock, Country and Blues. Besides if you find you didn’t like the tone you could always add a pedal.

better hear one live first to see if you like the tone.

I think your position and mine are similar. I play a P and a J, and was using the MB-500 head with a Revsound 212 cab. I bought the Rumble as a backup. The tone of the Rumble is more mid-focused. I used the GK for jazz gigs, and the Rumble for rock and blues.

I use the rumble 350 head and a sansamp rbi rack system through an old crate cab 4×10 with original speakers ...i play an ibanez sr 500..i get nothing but compliments for my tone and that is always from other bass players who dont have rumbles or sansamps...try out the rumble it will open your eyes.

The Tone Hammers are great but I would save a bit extra cash and get the 500 for some extra headroom. I would say the GK is the most modern sounding out of the lot. Personally I prefer old school tone, so I would go with the Aggie or the Rumble with the vintage button on.

I hear a lot of people describe the Rumble as "cheap." Inexpensive, yes, but definitely not cheap.

Makes sense. The friend I spoke of, who I have seen play the Rumble many times, plays all classic rock, all fingers, and he kills it.

They're pretty much the same. I love my Rumble 500 head. It's quite impressive especially if you like that 'Fender sound'.

Well, I went to the closest Guitar center and they only had acoustic , Mark bass and a couple of rumbles.
So no Tone hammers, peavey minimax or Gk heads available.
I tried a Rumble 500 head with an old used hartke 4x10 cab and it sounded pretty good!
The rumble head is winning so far, just waiting to see if there are any memorial day discounts I could use with my amazon gift cards!

I don like Hartke and Tc electronics amps
Too sterile to my ears.
I have a tc bg250 and is ok, but not the sound that I want.
I do like the ampeg PF series sound but I want something lighter this time.

If you buy the Rumble, be sure you like the tone as it is really baked in there. Also I'm not sure where you would be purchasing the Rumble but make sure wherever you buy it, they are a highly regarded authorized dealer. If you have a problem with a rumble they are not repairable. A reputable dealer will replace the entire amp if you are within warranty.

If it sounds good, it is good. If the other factors, price, weight et. al. are also satisfactory to you, I’d say you’ve found your amp.

I have a Rumble 500, a GK 200RB, and an '70's Ampeg V4.

Now they are going to have to pry the Ampeg out of my cold dead hands, but the Rumble 500 is my goto.....

For what its worth, I am using (1) or (2) Ampeg SVT-15e cabs.

Bland tone? Yeah I don't think so. I know people like their GK's and I do also, but the Fender only costs 400 bucks.

got my GK MB500 from GC used for $300 .....Just sayin

Rumble 500. I don't really trust the GK brand anymore after being burned on about 3 bad MB800's.
