Fender Rumble 500 head

I recently grabbed one of the Rumble 500 heads to carry as a backup to my Super Bassman 300 and to use as a practice head.

I’m actually very impressed with it. Does it sound like my SB300? No. But it does sound very good in its own way. I’d not hesitate to gig it, it drives my Neo 410 and Neo 115 effortlessly (just doesn’t have the huge slam of the tube amp).

The minimax is OK, but I don't hear a wow factor. The amp tone seems like it was designed to not offend anyone. Not bad but not much color. Typical Peavey - deep and clear, but not warm. Plenty of lows and a lot of features for the price point. Peavey's are always durable. Hope that helps.

I have a mini max, its plenty loud..as for tone, I don't think its as good as the fender tone stack..I had a bxr300 and a rumble 100 and loved them both...but..I'm currently thinking of getting an eden wtdi to plug into the return fx loop for tone...undecided on that though..

I've had a Rumble 500 head for a while, and I had also a Rumble 350 head, before that, and tone is somewhat backed in, I use the "Vintage" setting, and it sounds good to me, and have been happy with it, I currently use it at rehearsal/band practice, as it's easy to load in/load out, for giging I use my Bassman 800, or the Super Bassman, for the money it's a good amp to have just in case, I also used it as the hose house amp, at a local open mic, and it has survived.
