Fender Rumble 800 Combo Thread for the NEW 2022 800 Combo

I'm thinking about grabbing one of these, mostly for a easy schlep practice amp, but I'd also use it on gigs if it can handle it. I'm curious how it does with a 5 string. I have avoided 2x10 stuff in the past because I felt like they couldn't handle the 5 sting with any kind of useable volume.

I played a fairly loud gig this last weekend in a medium sized venue with FOH support and my new Rumble 800 handled my low B just fine.
Of course it’s all how you EQ your settings though.
I generally tend to favor 15’s over 10’s when it comes to the low B, but I was not at all unhappy with my Rumble 800.
Same goes for my Hartke HD500 2x10 combo.
And the 29lbs of the Rumble is definitely a huge plus.

IKR? So, here's what the Fender Rumble Principal Engineer had to say about the lack of "clip lights".

But, then I noticed the new 800 COMBO manual calling what I thought was the "Power Indicator Light" a "Power/Status Light" instead!?! What's that?? And, so it happens that, actually, the Rumble 800 HD head and this new Rumble 800 COMBO *DO* have "clip lights"!!!

You never know what you might learn by reading the manuals.

I did notice the power light for the 800 Combo is a different shape/design than the one that was on my 500 Combo. It's bigger, I wonder if that's because of the new sensor features.

Well, the light covering you see, obviously, is more clear than the old red ones. But it also does contain the different color leds without being a lot bigger. But the sensors, circuitry and switches are probably internal, unseen, on the printed circuit board.

The truth is I was going to sell the MUSICMASTER and watched a YouTube on how to clean vintage grill cloth and this was the result. so...... yeah it's clean now but.....not the way I expected! I do have a cat but always keep grill cloth covered. I Learned that lesson long ago. I promise to join next week. I also have a Rumble 40 I use for Upright and Piano jazz duos so I really should join soon.

Oucha, magoucha! Dirty, but intact, would have been preferable! I'm not really a collector but, if it were me, I'd replace that grille cloth. But, for all I know, that might lower the vintage value to collectors even more!

I’ve had my 800 for about 3 weeks now and have gigged with it about 4 times. I’ve matched my Rumble with an Orange 1x12 400 watt cab and very satisfied with the sound, tone and power.

I'm looking at this cab for this application too! Can you give any more details on the sound of the cab?

Sure, I’ve always used 2x12”s with an 800 watt head, which I love. So in terms of sound, if I were to compare the two, when matching/combining the Fender combo 800 with a 1x12 cab, it sounds and feels tighter, cleaner and I can hear the articulation in my playing a bit better than the 2x12 combination. Plenty of volume/headroom and plenty of tonal options. To be honest I have not played a gig with the Fender 800 all on its own, so I’m not sure how it sounds or holds up in a full band situation, without the additional 12 cab. If you have anymore questions, please ask no worries.

No issues at all with the new drivers pairing with the Rumble 115 and 210 cabs.
The 210 cab was especially meant to pair up with the Rumble 200 and 500 combos as the 210 cab can accept the higher wattage.
As I recall the 210 is rated up 700watts, pairing it with the R800 would be sending the 210 ext cab 400watts.

Remember to keep power ratings on the same scale. The new Rumble 800 COMBO is rated 400w continuous (like RMS) at 8 ohms into its internal speakers alone, and 800w continuous at 4 ohms, that's with a single 8 ohm external cab.

The Rumble 210 cab is rated 350w continuous, and 700w program (which marketers tout because it's twice as high, but it's dangerous because it's an extremely short time measurement!!!) since it was introduced to handle the Rumble 500 head at 350w continuous. But later the exact same speakers were introduced in the Rumble Stage 800 combo, where they can see 400w continuous! They even re-dressed some 210 cabs to match the black grille of the Stage, where they can see another 400w continuous. Obviously Fender is confident those 210 speakers can handle 400w continuous. So, that's about the only single Rumble cab to run with the Stage 800 or the new 800 COMBO, other than the heavier 500w continuous 410.

The Rumble 115 cab, however is not so underated. It has the same speaker as the Rumble 200 combo, which can only ever see 140w continuous there. At 300w continuous, 600 program, it could be overpowered by 400w continuous from the Stage or the new 800 COMBO!

However, if you run two Rumble 115 cabs with the Stage or the new 800 COMBO, then each one can only get 266w continuous, and you're safe! But, two 115 cabs are much heavier and cost more than a single 210 cab.

Na, haven’t added an extension cab yet, all my gigs with the 800 so far have been with FOH support but the stage volume has been great and I play with fairly loud rock cover bands.
My low B sounds great too as long as I don’t boost the bass EQ on the amp to much.

Why is the rumble 800 head so expensive compared to the combo?

Is it possible to do the 800 combo + 210 +115? Or would there be no benefit sonically adding the 115?
