Before you return the head... Did your used one come with a copy of the ORIGINAL invoice (to the first owner) dated prior to 1/1/17? If so, keep it. It will have a 5 year transferable warranty from that date. A new one has a 2 year non transferable warranty.Ya, still not completely comfortable with it mainly because I never noticed it before and because the amp was used to begin with. I tend to obsess over stuff like this but I guess I can either get over it or return the head and grab a new one.
Ya got it from gc. But didnt come with any original paperwork. Before you return the head... Did your used one come with a copy of the ORIGINAL invoice (to the first owner) dated prior to 1/1/17? Assuming you bought it from a store like GC since you mentioned the option of returning it.
In that case, go in and ask if they still have it. But it is doubtful. I have heard saavy buyers on this thread who DID get the original receipt with used rumble gear, but that also requires a saavy salesman to get it during the buy in process, and use it as a selling point during the sale. It is likely in this case that they don't have it.Ya got it from gc. But didnt come with any original paperwork.
If you're still not satisfied perhaps you may try a noise suppressor. One guy I know bought a new Roland JC120 that had 'white noise' (their known for that he said) when not playing-but he swore it was the cleanest S.S. amp out there. I think he use a Boss NS-2 noise suppressor IIRC. Maybe worth a try.Ya, still not completely comfortable with it mainly because I never noticed it before and because the amp was used to begin with. In case anyone finds this with a search, I found the specs:@Linnin I have a question that you might be able to help with. I have a 2006 MIM "Special Diamond Anniversary Edition" P bass in a "Blizzard Pearl" finish... I'm trying to figure out as much info as I can about the neck / fingerboard, most importantly radius, but also profile. Any idea if this information is somewhere to be found? I can't seem to find it in my Google searches...
I'm wanting a Jazz Bass like that, not sure if the Squire or Fender version is different. How do the strings lay on this one ? Nice and low, no bow in the neck ? I saw a used Fender Jazz Bass a few weeks ago, $470 and the neck was badly bowed. I just sort of cringed and gingerly put it back on the rack. What the heck ? Didn't expect that.View attachment 2760735
Am I too late to join the club? Loving this 500 combo with 210 extension, pictured with Fender deluxe active p bass.
Sometimes it works a little too well. And it WORKS!

A set of RotoSound 40 - 95 strings sure are easy on the neck. I put a set of 50 - 105's on it and it bowed, so I took the loss and got the 40 - 95's. Easy on the fingers too. Very bright but nothing the tone control on the guitar can't change to soft and deep. 40 - 95's can almost sound like a piano down in the lower keys.
They are the same general design, but very different levels of quality. Squiers are made for Fender by Cort in Indonesia; Fender Standard Jazz is made in Fender's factory in Ensenada, Mexico, and finally Fender's new American Professionals made in Corona, California USA. Play them all, brand new of course with their factory setups and stock Fender strings. Play them through the very same Fender Rumble amp with very same settings. This way you see; feel, and hear the differences for yourself. It is extremely important to have hands on experience.I'm wanting a Jazz Bass like that, not sure if the Squire or Fender version is different.
870 express, baby! The only way to fly!Me too. Speaker Cables and Remington Shotguns!
There are boundaries, you are correct!Sometimes it works a little too well.![]()
No it is not. The gain is just that - gain, and not a channel volume. If you turn the gain all the way down you will still get sound. Gain Structure is of utmost importance. There is a Rumble Talk on gain structure and a lot of ensuing commentary. Well worth reading. Gain structure is also critical in the employment of the overdrive. Keep your mind and ears open.Is that correct?
Be sure to check out @G-Dog's Wiki page. It has tons of intel plus links to all of the Rumble Talks. Here's a data chart of Rumble specs for those considering various models/sizes/speakers/etc. I've also added this to the Fender Rumble Club Wiki.

That is my experience and I have seen links to you on TalkBass from the Fender site, so trust me, I would listen to you first. My question then is why would someone recommend turning the Master all the way up and controlling volume with the Gain? That would disturb neighbors, increase my tinnitus AND scare the be-jeebus out of my rabbits. No it is not. The gain is just that - gain, and not a channel volume. These are people that are ignorant of gain structureMy question then is why would someone recommend turning the Master all the way up and controlling volume with the Gain?
Don't we all.I have a lot to learn.
