Speaking of Rumble cabinets, do they tune the ports to the speaker itself or to the dimensions and specs of the cabinet ?

Good question. The proper way to tune a cabinet is to the driver. Having the driver custom engineered to match the cabinet dimensions is the icing on the cake. This is but two reasons why Fender Rumbles sound so good.

I do love my V3 112's. Light, wooden,Classy look. There may be other cabinets that look as good but there are none that look better in my opinion. I'm definitely going to keep them and leave the stock driver's be.

I want two more 112 cabs. So I will have both my heads each driving two 112's. If I go ahead and grab 2 more Rumble cabs to match the other two, I was thinking of buying used and replacing the stock drivers with a more high-mids voiced pair of drivers. Without having to modify the cab.

You don't have to do that as Eminence has already done that for you. Check out the graph on this Legend 122 (which is the closest driver available to the stock Rumble 112). It has a very high mid and low high presence peak built in. Starting at 1kHz and peaking around 1.5kHz and receding about 2.1kHz. Most Eminence woofers for bass guitar cabinets do.

If you want to boost your high mids even further, do it with EQ and not a different driver.

That's my "weakest link". I really need to find a good tutorial on YouTube on how to read those graphs/plots.

Other than using my ears to adjust my tone controls on my amp, I'm totally EQ ignorant.

Don't feel bad, because a ton of folks are EQ challenged. They are clueless. Which is one of the reasons so many desire to be flat. A flat line = death. You want your bass to sound dead? Just go flat. For the rest of us there is EQ. Peaks & Valleys of beautifully colored sound! Another reason why Fender Rumbles are so popular is that they have been designed to sound good at 0 cut/boost. Set controls at noon for signature Fender tone. No you're not flat, but you will sound good!

You want more high mids? You have a high mid control so crank that sucka!

Not to get circular discussions going, but amps even with knobs at default are not exhibiting flat eq on the output. That would be a boring amp.

Had my Fender Rumble 500 V3 Combo (with the 2x10" Eminence Drivers) and my Fender Rumble 115 V3 Cabinet delivered yesterday although the casters for the cab were omitted so just waiting on them. When I have the casters fitted in the next few days i'll post some pics. I have owned a Fender Rumble 75 V2 for a couple years now and that little amp really pumps air. I gave the combo and cab a blow this morning and boy I thought i'd have to call a glazier if my lounge room windows blew out loll These amps really are loud and the tonal variation on the amp with or without the horn added to the sound is incredible. An added bonus of course is the horn loaded cab which can also be turned off or cut back to -6Db if needed. The rig together is mind blowing for the lightweight size of amp and 15" extension cab as both units are less than 40 pounds weight. When used with my EBMM SR5 i had tone selections running out my kazoo..I am going to have to experiment for awhile to find the best tone settings on the bass and the amp for just home practise let alone the different venues I will use the rig. I love a good challenge. These Fender Rumble amps are truly amazing. I almost bought an old 60's Bassman in the 70's..i think from memory it was a 4x12 cab..the only reason I didnt buy it secondhand was because I couldnt fit it into my car..it was a monster, but boy did it really sound great at the time with my old 80's Ric 4003..this Rumble 500 with the 115 cab attached reminds me of the power of that old 60's Bassman for about half the size and weight.
Replacing my Peavey MKIV Head (heavy) and Peavey 1820 cab (heavier than any cab of its size known) is now in effect. I am relegating the Peavey rig to the spare room. I would regret selling it so i'm not..who knows I may use it again if I continue to eat my spinach and grow Popeye muscles. The Rumble500 Combo and 115 cab are truly amazing...I can honestly call this rig The Thunder From Down Under. Will post pics soon. Giff.

I don't think they made a 4x10 cab for the bassman in the 60s.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! None had the screwholes that lined up so I called Fender customer service and they shipped me one for free. They refused to ley me pay. Great people.

I just bought a second Rumble 350 Head. I could get it for a very reasonable Price. So i have one for the Rehearsals and one for Home. What gets really difficult, is to find another Rumble 112 Cab (V2). Does anybody know wich Neodym Drivers are buildt in these Cabs?
