That’s crazy! That’s about what I paid after tax at guitar center with my rumble 40 as a trade in.
Yes, I'll suggest that to him. He actually needs an amp. His amp died before he came to practice. He tried using a smaller amp to drive the speaker of the bad amp, but it wasn't enough volume and we had to run him through the PA.Makes a dandy keyboard amp too!
Normally, I take my 100 to practice. Maybe I'll take one of my others to let him try it out. If I take the 500, should I use it and loan him the 100, or the other way around?

Used my Rumble 350 at a open mike, along with my Berg HS410, great tone and and kinda easy to adjust for the other players, but you'd be surprised at the amount of people who don't know how a parametric tone control works, which leads me to ask the question, is moving to the Rumble 500, going to produce the same great tone?

Yes, same signature Fender tone with different mid controls.
and that is exactly why Fender went with low & high mid controls. With my Rumble 350 I always wanted to both cut and boost various midrange frequencies. I ended up with a Whirlwind Bass 10 EQ that I like. For everyday applications the Rumble 4 band EQ is more than fine. Just audition a Rumble 500 combo to get a taste.

Hell, I went into the GC store and asked them if they'd give me 20% off on the 500C if I ordered it(they didn't have one in stock) and they said yes. Came back for the cab and they did the same thing. Hey, if you don't ask, you know what the answer is.
How many Watts is the 10" in the Rumble 40 built for?
It seems louder than 40 watts, but I'm concerned about the resilience of that driver.
Sometimes I like it loud & was considering a new rig, but if I can get the volume I want out of this little combo I'll be grinning.
Of course, if I blow the driver then I won't be grinning, because I'll have a $200 paperweight or $100+ to shell out to repair it.
I had some real rumble in here earlier, but I wasn't sure if it was my driver about to blow or the vibration coming up from the floor.
I'd like to take it out on the porch to see how loud it gets w/o buckling, but it's cold out there & there are still some folks working over there.

Isn't the 10" speaker in the 40 the same as the 500? Or am I confused?
I started to take the back off & see if anything were printed on it, but it's not that easy. I'll have to take the grille out & the driver through the front...
