Fender Rumble Club

Do you feel the 800 watt Fender Bassman 800 hybrid amp is a good investment at $1,000.00, or is it worth the extra $800.00 for the all tube Super Bassman if I am an occasional player???
Thanks very much.
I want to glean what I can from your 55 years of experience.
That would be up to you and how it makes you feel when you play through each one. Both great but if I had a choice between those two I would buy the all Tube Super. For me it depends on the sound and how it makes me feel after I am done playing. My SVT would blow your pant legs back what a sound!!
All Tube is hard to beat except for maintaining the Tubes Etc. my SWR’s sounded great with only a preamp Tube.

I am an early member. I forget what number. Once you join, you get no respect.

I'm a later member, and when no one answered my request for a number I "assigned" myself number 43.

”Not only do combos get no respect, the Combo Club gets no respect and no number issuer. Sheesh!"

I don’t think people care at all, as long as the show is good.

However, I also think that whatever evidence we have is purely anectodal, so the chance of finding out for sure is practically zero. All things being equal, I still think that truth is best, and we should convince people with our sound rather than putting on a fake display, even if we reveal the truth at the end. No reason complicating things needlessly, IMHO.
Here is another angle on this, but is is purely hypothetical with no evidence to back it up.
What if manufactures (like Marshall) put up the fake amps as a marketing ploy. All the young wannabees in the audience will see the giant cabs and Marshall will get stuck in their heads. Now they think Marshall has to be the coolest amp in the world because <insert favorite rock band name here> uses them and they are like the best ever.

Who is that old man and why can't he hold a bass properly? Not even wearing a strap and what the hell is that blocky thing his holding onto underneath the strings? Jeeze, some people just shouldn't have anything to do with musical instruments.
My, My, we are very funny or maybe 16 years old. In the early days of bass, that was the proper way to hold a bass. You played with your thumb and the "tug bar" was where you put your fingers.

Marshall usually has it's huge three 412 cabinet tall and four cab wide 'wall' at Sweetwater's annual Gear Fest (coming up soon!) for photo ops.
