Bought the 40 on Reverb and quite frankly I would want to keep it for a practice amp.

And you should. Many Rumble 500 owners eventually bought smaller Rumble 40 or 25 personal practice combos. I, for one, would not part with my Studio 40.

You need to find out from your bandmates what size venues they are going to play and what PA system they have. If they are playing your typical 100 seat bar, with no PA support a single Rumble 200 or 500 combo will do just fine. Plenty loud for rehearsals and average gigs. That's why they are so popular.

Yes! I'm considering getting a Studio 40 to enslave my Rumble 500. Since @badRocks already has the Studio 40 all they need is the Rumble 500 combo to handle any gig.

For Studio and Stage users, if you have not experimented with creating your own presets yet, a simple one to do is a B 15/ Flip Top preset. You can select the head and the cabinet comes with it. This is one of my favourite sounds on my Stage and I haven’t touched the eq on the amp because it sounds good anyways. I have been using this a lot on jazz standards and Motown songs but it does everything else quite nice as well.

That's the stuff, badRocks! That way you can duplicate settings between the Studio & Stage so that your practice on the Studio has the same tone as when you use the Stage on stage!

Second update: returned my 200 and got a new one. Hopefully this one will be the one!

I play in a southern rock cover/originals band and my R40c barely hung with 2 guitarist and keys, it was tryin', so...

I got me a R200c and have not got past 1 o'clock on volume yet (gig wise)

I dig the heck out of this amp, I sometimes add a Fender BXR 115 cab or a R112 v2 cab and yes indeed, it rocks with no problem

...no PA support needed, so far
