Correct, no FX loop. Just run them in through the instrument input on the amp just like most guitarists do. Your signal chain becomes even more critical. I used to plug my ZOOM B3 in with no problem, but as a multi effect it was a piece of cake to set up unity gain. Got good sound for sure. If your signal is too hot, use the active input jack.
Rumble 200 update: it's been sounding great. I've been getting positive comments from bandmates about the sound of it with my Mustang Bass. Part of the reason I got it was that I'd heard from other lazy bass/guitar players that it also sounded quite good on guitar. I haven't been playing much guitar lately so I forgot to try it out. Sounds great; full and rich. The speaker isn't 100% optimized for guitar, but I've heard worse on dedicated guitar amps.

I've gotta say, just going through the presets as they are, I really liked the way most of them sound. Seems there is a good variety of starting points for many bass tones and they can get loud.
I was looking for a combo to use for home recording, but big enough to be able to play a gig if needed and still be lightweight. The recording outs in back appear to have the functionality I was looking for.
I had a blast for hours in my living room just playing around and going through the presets. It made me want to grab the bass back up again first thing this morning. Just saying.

Say @badRocks, have you investigated the new acoustic presets included in the latest update? I know there is one for double bass violin, and one to make an electric bass sound more like an electric acoustic bass guitar, but is there one that would make your electric bass guitar sound more like an upright? These would be killer for alt country; Americana, and folk. Especially in small acoustic gigs where the Studio 40 would shine like the sun.
I didn't find any new presets. What they added was new amp models that you can use in presets.
OK, so in the new Acoustic Sim what are the six simulations?
I created a new preset with that amp. They really hid the selector for the sims on both the amp and Tone app but I found it. You can select the sims using the very valuable description 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. It's apparently up to you to figure out what they are. Hay Carumba!
If that actually is possible on the Studio 40, it may be the answer to a quest that I am on!
Thx guys. I've been looking at several other combo's (Ampeg, TC, GK, Rumble V3) and even considered a small head & cab, but decided to try the Stage 800 out.
It's a different style of amp so I'm hoping it'll be used friendly enough to work and hold up well.

Hey, I'm Hip! Plus a Studio 40 is a damn sight cheaper than a decent Acoustic Electric Bass Guitar, and you still need an amp for those damn things anyway! An electric bass guitar (of which I already own) is easier to play.
For some they will have too many options and are just too complicated. For them there are always straight forward plug 'n' play analog bass amps. I'm an old man and I struggle mightily with anything digital.
For a young technology savvy bass player they will be plenty friendly and easy to use.
I'll try out some of the new amp types on the Studio once I get done finding a hotel room to evacuate to.
Yes. The governor just declared a state of emergency. Looks like it'll be cat 4 and right on us. Augusta GA was the closest room I could find inland that allowed pets.
