Fender Rumble Club

Earplugs? Only swimmers and shooting enthusiasts wore them.
I wear them now. Too many painful episodes, and one day the ringing did not fade, still there, only noticed when I think about it. Anything above dinner conversation level and in they go.
The 80's with the Randy Rhodes icepick tone through Marshall full 100 watt stacks 2x810 SVT on "11" takes it's toll, I got lucky :)

Yeah. Sometimes I'm surprised the people near me can't hear the ringing. Can't sleep w/o the white noise machine.:banghead:

Yep. Young and dumb. That was us. Rehearse everything at stage volume. And then there were all the concerts. Like Neil and the Horse back to back nights. The Clash; three solid hours of very loud nonstop sound. Ears hurt for days after shows like that. My tinnitus comes and goes; allergy seasons really aggravate it. I’m pretty careful now too.

In FL allergy season runs from very early January to the end of December:bag:

And all these 30 years I've been telling people it was the wife yelling at me.

The 100 wants to be up

Good suggestion.
I A/B'd them again just now & being up on something takes some of the boominess away, which means I could solve that problem with a Gramma pad from Auralex, but the 10" in the 40 is still just more punchy with the EQs at noon.
Given that & a couple of other factors, I'll be making the 3 hour drive tomorrow to return the 100. Sure I could EQ the 100 to taste, but what if I got another bass that isn't as punchy as my current bass?

Good news is that I'll be having AYCE "911" wings at hOOters for lunch!

just my perception of what I hear(or think I hear)
Subjectivity pure and simple. It's good to use a set of studio headphones to remove the room and the speaker cab. Leaving a new setting until morning with fresh ears and a clear mind often reveals brilliance or rubbish. Either way new day new play.

Oh man that sucks, I took about 15 years off to concentrate on family, but still went to see bands, and started to wear the plugs then.
It probably doesn't help that for 23 +/- years I sat right behind a 350 hp Cummins diesel. It wasn't super loud in the cab of the truck(s) but it was constant.

Any Rumblers using a Rumble head with a RevSound cabinet or a T.E. 2x8"?
Thinking of getting a RevSound 2x8" & throwing a Rumble 200 head on top, after playing through the T.E. 2x8" at G.C. today:

Neither the T.E. cab or the Markbass 2x10" sounded over-bassy like the 12" Eminence in the Rumble 100 I returned this morning. They were crisp, just like the Rumble 40.

I've given up finding a tube amp to put with a 2x8", tried some (guitar ones) today at G.C. but they have zero bottom end. (no, I'm not surprised)

Rumble's advantage is their 4-band EQ, which I've grown accustomed to.
I wish the Rumble 2x10" didn't weigh almost 40 lbs. :wideyed:

More bass out if a tube amp? Which one's did you test?

A good eq. pedal would take care of that.

As far as bottom end, what freqs are you looking for?

The only bass tube amp there was a SVT-200T & the Markbass Tube 800, which I think has a single tube in the preamp.

I could have gotten the bass from the EQ of the bass guitar, I was using a Ibanez SR500 with a 3-band preamp.
Rarely do that, but I should probably break that habit.

If I put my Rumble 40 up on a stool, aiming right at my mid-section, it sounds just as good. Hmm, maybe time to invest in another Gramma pad.

(oops, the CR120 is SS, and of course the Micro Dark only has a tube in the preamp)
The Genz Benz next door at Sam Ash sounded great, but had a weird hiss, even with all EQ at noon.
