Get the Studio 40 and then decide if you need the additional Rumble 115. I hope you are playing the gigs that would require you to get one.

The only one right now would be to set it up outside the window of little drummer boy next door, and fire it up around 2 in the morning. College kid. Doesn't even start practicing until after bedtime. Little bastidge.

But you're right. I should get the 40 first.

The 100 definitely has more low end, but it's missing a tiny bit of top end
The Effects Send works great for splitting my signal & w/o noise. Previously I was using a Y-splitter & it was noisy. (same one I used for the A/B comparison)

I wasn't expecting the 100 to be 2.5x louder, but TBH it's not noticeably louder. I put a VU meter in front of them & the only noticeable difference is when cranking the gain.
That was half the idea of getting the 100, because I had to crank the gain on the 40 to get loud.

Plugged in my 800...WOWZER!!! More than I hoped for!
After multiple A / B checks, my observation is that the 15 really makes a very significant (HUGE) difference in overall depth and tone. Even at lower volumes. WOW! Excellent investment. Now, on to new grill cloth, corners and also mandatory is a new logo plate to match.

Still no decision on silver or black, but they will eventually match.
Will then also rotate the 800 90 degrees for a great looking stack!

Hey I got the 115 delivered today also. Put it with the Rumble 500 combo. Sounds great!

Congrats, I love the Rumble 115 cab.
Just thinking....IIRC the 115 cab is rated for 300 W RMS. Could the 800 possibly put 400W to it if pushed? I am not really familiar with the Stage 800, so others that know more can chime in. But if that is correct, you might want to be careful with it. Although I would not want to be around if you ever get it cranking out more than 600 W (300 to each cab). That would be some serious ear pain.
Using it as an extension cab with the 500C it is not an issue as the most it would push to it is 250W.

I find that black grills disappear on a semi-dark stage and big, clumsy feet (like mine) even kick them in sometimes, when crowded! I don't wish that on anyone.

The silver sparkle grill not only shines on a dark stage, it adds a touch of class to set off it's relatively small size, for a bass amp.

Just my 2¢.

Just my opinion, but friends don’t let friends buy Peavey.

My opinion was reinforced by the Undercover Boss episode, showing how Hartley Peavey and his son-in-law run their business.

I know a lot of musicians that will not so much as touch a Peavey amp, especially bass players.

Interesting reading and something to consider, especially as i am left wing ( i am british by the way, left wing is not what you Americans think it is) so find this type of Victorian slum workhouse ethic a bit disturbing, worked for companies like that, they want to sell hight end but want to buy cheap and not interested in quility.
But i do like the amp, the clean tone is very good but it does not play well with other effect pedals so much, specially fuzz. The Rumble plays better with effect pedals and the clean tone is very good, but low end is a bit muddy. The drive setting is a bit hissy as well. Anybody else find that.

Got 30 days aporoval on both but expect to decide in next few days, the ethects thing regarding peavey may swing it, was not aware of there reputation it did not make the news over the pond and Peavey is well thought off in the uk, their products are considersd Bombproof, but i would prefer to deal with companies with good moral fibre.

Oh, yeah, they're built like tanks but never again. The only reason I don't attempt to sell my max 110 is that I keep it as a backup-just in case something happened to my Rumble on a gig. It lives in my van so it's always available.

TBH if we knew how every manufacturer really feels about quality & getting good products to the customer, we might never buy another piece of gear again.
Yeah, there are a few who actually care, FEW being the operative word.

All Rumbles with that front end are stellar. You can dial in an ultra clean and tight bottom with ease. You can have full deep & rich lows and you needn't be muddy at all. Plenty of good strong punch in the mids. Menacing big dog growl in the low mids with plenty of big cat cougar snarl in the high mids. More highs than a fighter jet. Your best drive settings are going to be found low with low gain settings also. Very subtle changes can bring BIG results. Patience; a steady hand, and a well tuned ear are all required. Or you can just dime everything and be a 13 year old with too much power. That's always fun! Rumbles Rock!
