Fender Rumble Club

snarl in the high mids. More highs than a fighter jet.

The driver in there makes or breaks the highs & I've found the 12" Eminence lacking.
It's also not very punchy with high mids :bored:

the clean tone is very good, but low end is a bit muddy. The drive setting is a bit hissy as well.

I've found that same problem with the 12" Eminence driver & it also lacks highs. To make up for it you need to crank the highs or put on the bright switch, which in turn makes it hissy.
The 10" drivers just naturally have more highs w/o the hiss & you can dial in the bass to taste.

TBH if we knew how every manufacturer really feels about quality & getting good products to the customer, we might never buy another piece of gear again.
Yeah, there are a few who actually care, FEW being the operative word.
FWIW, the Fender guitar plant in Corona is open for tours. When I went through with a small group, the employees seemed pretty happy and it appeared that many had worked there for a long time.

Just my opinion, but friends don’t let friends buy Peavey.

My opinion was reinforced by the Undercover Boss episode, showing how Hartley Peavey and his son-in-law run their business.
That really sucks. I like Peavey stuff but no more. It may seem trivial, but I will not patronize a business that I know is run with no care for their workers. I own a business and I thank God for my employees and know I'd be nowhere without them. Every single person who works for my mechanical contracting company is important to me. I'm so glad I own Rumble equipment! I hope Fender runs their company better than Peavey!

Oh! They do! Look at their commitment to quality. See the many long term workers at both Corona, California U.S.A. and Ensenada, Baja, Mexico. (I can't speak to other plants in other countries) Working in a wood shop is hot hard dusty work. Imagine hand sanding (quickly) guitar body after guitar body. Hour after hour. Day after day. Year after year. And doing it with pride and commitment to a high standard of skilled workmanship. Every job is an important job. Every worker is an important worker. Every guitar; bass, and amp is important too as is every musician/customer. Happiness isn't a job. It's a result.

Hey, @Linnin Did you survive Florence OK, or were you rode hard and put away wet?
Thanks for thinking of me @Deleted member 268085. I came out OK enough. We've had just a tremendous amount of rain this year overall. A lot more was something we didn't need. Lots of flooding along the creeks and rivers. Fortunately I am on high ground and we didn't get much wind here.

Florence did a job on my front door. The wind was blowing so forcefully that water came in through the bottom seal & soaked the carpet all week long. It has dried, but it looks like I'll need to get a carpet cleaner vacuum in here to get the ring out of the edges of the spot.

I think I'm losing my mind fellow Rumblers!

Got home with the Rumble 100 yesterday & immediately A/B'd it to my 18 month old Rumble 40 & I was not happy at all. The 100 needs almost extreme EQing to sound as punchy as the 40 with all knobs at the détentes.
Especially when I drop the 100 into its spot by my easy chair. It's got a low rumble there that's just too much!

Thought of ways to keep it, and being a two-Rumble guy, but it just won't fit by my TV, too tall & too wide.
Got up first thing this morning & gave everyone a wake-up call by A/Bing them again & the 100 sounds just like the 40 with low & low-mid at 09:00 & high-mid & high at 15:00, but the 100 can't get as crazy bright as the 40.

Yeah I know, we're BASS players, but I like those high mids that to me make or break the articulation of different techniques, such as using a pick or the boney end of your fingers.
Cut to just now:

Plugged in to the 40 with Drive on, thinking that's the one thing I did not compare. Then on the 100, but they sound the same :wideyed:
So out comes the 40 from it's little pocket by my chair for more A/B action & I'm amazed that they sound very similar now.

I'm not sure if my hearing is gone or if the driver of the 100 is breaking in, or just what on Earth is happening. I'd think it would lose punchiness from breaking in vs. gaining it
So, I thought I'd come here & ask those with more experience, before I return the 100 on Monday morning.

Although, I'm also remembering that I noticed this among the Rumbles at the local Fender dealer 18 months ago, when I was trying to decide between the 40 & 100.
The 100 was crazy dark & muddy with a guitar & at the time I wanted to play guitar through the Rumble also.
After all this time I'd finally stopped with the skinny strings stuff, so figured I was ready for the 100 upgrade, but I'm thinking the 40 might be just right!

I wanted the 100 for two reasons, the volume & the effects loop. Turns out that using the effects loops is rather awkward in the tight spot I have it lodged in & it's not really much louder than the 40.
Still have to crank the gain if I want to get loud, which was my objection with the 40 not being loud enough. (if you crank the gain it is loud)

I'm sure this'll be a tremendous help. I've hooked up my R40, done various tweaks, played through and not liked the sound(s) I'm getting. Give up for the night in frustration, come back the next day-not moving a thing-and been happy as a clam at high tide. Same with the R200C. IDK if the sounds of the day change my hearing or just my perception of what I hear(or think I hear)or wuttinnahell is going on. BTW, this without relocating the amp or anything around it. Aaarrgghh.

AC power line variance?

Just a shot in the dark, as it were.

I think it's mostly my hearing or lack thereof. Played in too many stupidly loud bands back in the 70s when we didn't know from earplugs. Now I have a constant very high Ab in my left ear-which mainly functions as support for my glasses.

Argree with the lows being a little overly present with the 100c .

The 100 wants to be up of the floor on an amp stand or tilted back, that will make a big difference, had mine on the floor and it was just like playing in through a mub bath just unplayable. Lifted ontop of another amp cab or tilt it back and it was much better. It is still too much on the low end, but may be more comparable to the 49 once lifted up.

Or, use an HPF in front, works wonders.
