Fender Rumble Club

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a combo amp, that will serve for smaller bars and clubs. It has to get over acoustic drums, but will be running from the XLR out to a PA. I would like an amp onstage with me to serve as a bass monitor. I borrowed a GK MB210 for a wedding reception, and it worked for that gig. The Rumble 500 is the Fender equivalent, but I'm wondering if it's not overkill. Will the Rumble 200, or even the 100, get over drums, 2 guitars, and keyboards enough to work as an onstage bass monitor?
I find the 100 is not quite enough to compete with a drum kit. With PA support its fine for the room, but hard to hear on stage. 200 minimum, id say. And you did catch its only 140w w/o an extension speaker? Took me a while to notice that ;)

What would be really cool, would be if Fender had a 200W 210 combo. I'd be all over that.

200 head + 2x10! But same 140w rating as the combo tho....

Since you're going FOH, should be fine. Use a stand to aim it toward yer ears.

We've not heard that the 200 head was discontinued, only that it has recently disappeared from the Fender website. But their newest Rumble 210 Black-on-Black cab also disappeared for a while, though it's back now. I expect the 200 head to return to the website any time.

Hmm, not only is the 200 head missing from the Rumble webpage on Fender.com, but it's own webpage there is gutted thus:

And Sweetwater says it's "no longer available", instead of just out-of-stock.

But most other web retailers still have it. Dunno, but maybe something is going on?

Perhaps they are reworking it, but in looking at that head and a 210 cabinet, you gain nothing except for that configuration, which isn't available in a combo. Going that way costs more, too. The more I consider it, the 500 seems the way to go. Without an extension cab it's 350 watts, which should get me over the drums just fine.

Head-room! Head-room! Head-room!......

Honeymoon phase with my Studio 40 is over. Not sure why I just assumed any expression pedal would work, but it won't.
The EXP-1 from Fender uses a TS plug & is digital, just like the MGT-4 footswitch.

Those things are $90 :wideyed:
Dumb me sat here for an hour with a Roland EV-5 pedal plugged in there with no results.
It finally dawned on me that the Roland is a TRS plug.

That wouldn't have mattered anyway if the EXP-1 is digital.
Not too seriously considering trading my Studio 40 for a Katana for guitar & use the Roland pedal with that, but it has crossed my mind.

Before I do that I'm going to spend some time tomorrow refreshing my memory on why I bought it to begin with.

Yeah. I bought the Fender one used. Use it mostly on the Mustang though.

You bought it because you’re adventurous. Just think about all the basses you’ve gone through. I wold love to play with one, but I have four amps and don’t play out for the time being. I need another amp like I need a hole in the head. Besides, so many basses, so little time...

I almost asked on your NAD thread why you chose that pedal instead of the Fender but, decided not to show my ignorance. But, thank you for your candor, @Killed_by_Death. I don't know from expression pedals. I did try a friend's volume pedal once, and I've got a first generation fuzz-wah pedal somewhere. But I gather this goes way beyond those.

Does it plug into the MGT-4 somewhere, or what. I've not heard any discussion of using the expression pedal with the Stage or Studio.

I think it's the other way around & the MGT-4 can plug into the EXP-1.
The MGT-4 has one jack, while the EXP-1 has two:

I know this is wrong of me to mention on here but the BXD12 Bugera @1000watts with the built in kick back double back ported cab is a butt pounder on stage. But I still use my Rumble 40 on a stand through my 3000watt PA to play my gigs. Just sayen the Bugera BXD12 @ $299 is a steal. But I will always be a Rumble owner.... I have that as a backup and yes owning 2 basses I own 2 amps.....doesn't everybody?

I really like the rumble sound, so the safe bet would be to upgrade. I did try a mark bass 121 little combo II at a blues jam and it was killer. So many amps, so little time......

Hmm. Let's see. 2 Rumbles(40 and 200c), 1 Bassman 25, 1 Max 110, 1 Kasino 252. Guess how many basses.:smug:
