Fender Rumble Club

Just saying that I got great kudos from my new Rumble 500 last night in a pre-gig practice. Damn thing does Rumble. Volume was turned to 10 O'clock and filling the stage. It is my sound, and exactly what I was looking for in a combo. I guess I can sell my Markbass.....hmmm. Always something. #1000 is a pride thing.

:bassist: Happy Fender Friday! :woot:

Per @JACink request, Here are all the Rumble Club members past and present as of today 12/12/2018.

Not to pick nits -- but there's a gap in the numbers from 769 thru 795, and the following names have been repeated...
4dog, TheREALRandyMos, jaxstarke, Davesound, Robert Spencer, rtslinger, Gravedigger Dav, mc900ftj, Matt McGriff, Mickeyb48, gazbass, EatS1stbassist, Bobivan52

So that makes the list about 961 names. :wideyed:
1001-27-13 = 961
Sorry -- my geek is showing again. :bookworm:

Thanks for replying. So it's happening.

Debating whether I should pick one up at the local store before they run out. It's not marked down or anything.

I actually already have an older 350 combo that I like, but am considering the 200 head because it's the cheapest way to get a 200W Ice module (short of ordering the naked PCB from Parts Express) to use in my guitar rig. Not that it wouldn't work with a 500, just easier not to blow the guitar speakers with a 200
Welcome Rumbler #1003! If you can lay your hands on a 200 head, grab it while you can. Put a 1x15 under it and Rumble On!

Good catch. No idea how that happened or whether it was on my watch. Doesn't matter, it is what it is. But the numbers will stay what they are and we will continue using the numbers in the 1000 range.
And to disturb your geekiness, we have no way of knowing how many are still active.

playing my rumble 100 today. sounded like the overdrive was on so i went to turn it off but it wasnt on, it just sounding a bit crunchy and dirty. why? is my amp crap? or has it had enough already? i had the gain like 10 oclock and the master at 12. was playing my cort artisan, with the bass cut, treble flat on the knobs, and the volume knob JUST under 5.
so?....

If your bass it active, it might just be a matter of turning the gain down.

You could be clipping the input to the amp. Try turning the bass down a hair or try turning the gain down a bit on the amp.

And is the battery still good in the bass? Might need a fresh one...

This is the 2 areas I'd check first .

Yep. Active basses can make the rumbles clip when wide open. My Bongo didn’t play well with the rumbles as it was 18 volts. I have two other active basses that are 9v and it is harder to over power the amp unless the gain is jacked. The amp would literally make a clanking sound. Thought I had busted a cone. Lol. All was fine though.

hmm thanks. didnt think the battery would be the issue. the bass just uses 1 9v.
i thought the bass gets quieter and quieter as the battery starts to go...

yeah i was thinking that actives might not be the best with rumbles, i think they take more passive better, i think thats what they are built for more.

in fact i dont really like active guitars that much anyway my next bass is gonna be PASSIVE

I have one active bass 0327181131-00.jpg. I didn't know it was active when I bought it. As it lost tone/volume I opened it up to see if something was loose. Imagine my surprise at finding a battery in there:facepalm::bag:.At some point I might switch the pups to passive but for now I hafta run the gain on the Rumble at its lowest setting and lower the volume on the bass.

A low battery can cause a distorted signal, try changing the battery as that is definitely the cheapest thing to try first.

Around 50% of my basses are active and the Rumble doesn't have an issue with any of them, as long as the battery is fresh. One thing that many people overlook (I am not saying this is the case, as you say you have already tried) is that active preamps are not supposed to be run with the volume fully up like passive basses are. It isn't an issue for some active basses but can be for others.
