I've just been recommended an Audio Technica AT2020 mic. Decent quality and great price, so I'm considering that.
But you don't need to buy a mic immediately as you can run DI out of your Rumble. Which model do you have?
With the 500w, the amp EQ, gain, plus your effects pedals etc, are all 'fed' out along the XLR signal, which I find great. So you have your sound. Alternatively, you can plug the bass straight into the Scarlett, but its a bit sterile (although you can mess with EQ and amp simulators on the software afterwards)
As I said, I have been doing this for years and it works well. I use a Scarlett Solo which has 2 channels - one for instrument and the other for mic. It comes with free Ableton live lite DAW software, which is great when you get the hang of things (took me a while though to be able to mix and do stuff beyond the basics).
Our guitarist bought the same interface and he records his stuff as seperate tracks, onto the 'project' that I send him - my bass and drum tracks. But his amp doesnt hasve the same XLR out set up as the Rumbles, so he takes it out of an effects unit. He finds he cant get the effects pedals sound though, so he will buy a mic. Vocalist doesnt have a focusrite so he records into Audacity (also free).
I've learnt adding midi synths and sounds which is fun. Works fine for us but it did take time to be confident in handling the whole project files, mixing & mastering.
There are loads of other interfaces/software to choose from. Thats the only one Ive got to fully utilise.

lots of demo vids out there to help with using Ableton
I own a Rumble 100.
Honestly, I just want to go for ease of use. My partner has a Boss Katana 50 MKII.
So you are saying I can run my rumble with the DI on the back of it into an interface and then that into my computer?
In any case it involves me spending money whether it is on a microphone or an interface, I just want to minimize the amount of cables etc I need. I want to go for simplicity especially for my partner since I am the one who has a little bit more of a hardware know-how
I have been recording through a USB mic into Audacity so far and it works well.
