I do have budget constraints. I couldn't swing the whole $400 for 200. And for practice, I can always use headphones.

I was really impressed with the 40. I was impressed by the little Hartke HD25 that was given to me just a couple of weeks before I got the Rumble. When I got the Rumble, I put them side by side and while I know they aren't the same, i.e. 25 vs 40, the tone I could get with the vintage switch on the Rumble really sealed the deal. Straight up, everything flat, they both sounded similar. There was a difference, but it was subtle. The tonal options of the Rumble put it a cut above. And for me, the Rumble gives me the sound I'm looking for.

I'm looking to sell the Hartke to help offset the cost of the upgrade. It retails for $130 and I've only plugged it in a couple of times so I'm hoping I can get $100 for it. If not, anything will do.

I keep saying, "I'm going to buy one or the other," and I will. I don't want both. Each one has its own cool features. 22 pounds is nothing. But then the 200 weighs (only) the same as my Fender '68 Custom Princeton Reverb. The 100 is more compact. The 15 inch speaker "probably" sounds and feel better. If the 12 has "the tone and feel" of the 15, then I kinda lean toward the Rumble 100. If not, and the 15 just has more oomph, then that is the only "logical" (miss you Spock) thing to do.

When I played the 100 and 200 side to side at the same volume it was apparent how much more oomph the 200 had. And as I mentioned in a previous post, something about the orientation and weight distribution made the 200 feel much, much lighter than my 36 lb combo tube amp. I wonder whether you might have the same experience with your Princeton.

Maybe, but having FOH support would have just made me lean on the subs a bit more. Then again...don't we always want more bass?

I just drove all the way to Springfield to Guitar Center To look at the 100 and the 200. I put them side by side all tones at noon. the gain was also at noon. at similar volumes I just liked the 200 better. I dimed the master on the 100 and just played a low E. it seemed like 2 o'clock on the master on the 200 was the same. I didn't dim the 200.

All the while there was a kid on electric guitar. he wasn't bad but he just went on and on and on and loud. I was ready to purchase today. finally got fed up and left.

The good news is I have decided to get the 200.

Linnin, i'm thinking about a v3 rumble 100 combo, and a v3 rumble 112 cab...to make a 100W 212 stack. what do you think this little stack would sound like, power and loudness wise?, compared to the rumble 500 210 combo that a lot of people seem go for? ...just a little 212 stack G.A.S.:woot:
The v3 rumbles are so legit, i want to get more of them!:hyper:

It would be OK, except you can't do that. The Rumble 100 combo hasn't got a powered extension speaker output jack. Just like my Rumble 75 which the 100 replaced it is strictly an 8 ohm only amp. It is what it is and that's all that it is.

The Rumble 200 head + a pair of the new Rumble 112 cabs would make an excellent mini-stack. As most know I run a V2 Rumble 350 head and a pair of V2 Rumble 112 Neo cabs and love it. I've thought long and hard about getting a new V3 Rumble 200 head for the more tube like tone character for blues & soul. I would keep the 350 for squeaky clean country; jazz, and fusion.

thanks for the re. busted bubble for the 100W thing i thought of. oh well. but omg, why are you thinking long and hard about a 200 head for your neos? that would kill, go for it! :D. i may just pick up a pair of the rumble 112 cabs and worry about heads later. maybe upgrade the drivers in the long term. the v3 rumble 112 cabs "nest" together when stacked?

$$$ is why. I'm a man of very modest means. Plus I just charged a Whirlwind Bass Ten graphic EQ that kills.
Yes the 112's stack nicely together just as they do under the Rumble 200 & 500 combos.

yea, i know money doesn't 'lay around' for aaaannybody. and yea, that would be a $900 200W stack:eek:. i know the sound they make, sounds like $900, but it's still $900 no matter how ya count it. I'd throw down a few buck for you to get a v3 200 head. do you have any v3 rumbles stuff yet? if everyone here could paypal you a little? haha.. maybe tho.

sweet little cabs! i WANT haha. im surprised you dont have a v3 "40 and up" amp yet tho! :***:o_O, they are incredible. you must really be happy with your 350/212. now im going to go look for, and work for, 1k... to spend on a rumble 500 head and 2 rumble 112s :bag:
