Fender Rumble Club

Yep Dave, they do make more than just bass stuff!! My electric guitars are all Strats. TB members talk about how a lot of guitar players play bass like a guitar (because they do). Most of the time, I play guitar like a bass. In my one man band, I could never play my Strat without my Boss OC3 Octave pedal in the chain. I am my own bass player in that situation. I have a hard time playing 6 string otherwise. I think it benefits everyone to have some knowledge of both instruments if you play either. If nothing else, it will give you respect for the one you aren't playing.

My electrics are Fender, my guitar amp is Fender, my bass is Fender. It just makes sense that I am ordering the Rumble 200 TODAY.

I agree, it's always good to have as much knowledge on as many instruments as possible. I started with keyboard, and although I am not great, at least I know where the notes are, and how to play chords, which helped me learn bass (when I started visualizing the fretboard as white and black keys :D). I have a guitar (a strat-alike) that I have strung BEADGC, and can just about play power chords, apart from soloing  but not much more. I also play ukelele, which is fun and easy to throw in a suitcase when I trave (a lot).

Anyways, I digress, I need to go back to finding a Rumble to try out!

Wait, what? You haven't gone out and gotten one yet? You are seriously depriving yourself of all that Rumble goodness?

:D

They are on back order here. And to be truthful, I would still like to try one out (also the GK CX210 and the Ashdown RM210 or 212). Luckily I am not in a rush, as I have plenty of rig to keep me going.

This morning I visited a local music store to see if I was lucky enough to have "something" rumble in stock. I am not going to go into details as it will turn into a very long rant, but the short answer is that they had 0 bass amps, cabs or combos in stock of any brand. They only had one bass in the whole store. A very short version of the story is that he doesn't stock stuff so people don't try things and then buy online. He will order me whatever I wan't (from online :)), but I need to pay for it first. When I mentioned that online at least I get a 30 day money back period, he asked me to order it online, try it, send it back, and then buy it from him, 20% more expensive o_O

JACinc, are you referring to Freeport Texas or is there another one? If you are talking Freeport Texas, and can take a bit of a drive, come up to League City, to Danny D's, they have several Rumbles in stock waiting to demo, and walk out the door with you. Danny and his staff give top notch service and will price match online...

I wish I was referring to Freeport TX, unfortunately I am referring to Freeport Bahamas.

While I can understand the logic, I can't help but wonder how much money has walked out his door.

Noting that JACink lives in Spain, I see Thomann has the Rumble 210 cab listed as 363 Euros, and that they should be in stock soon.

How far would you have to travel to find an authorized Fender dealer that socks some Rumbles? If you could play through the Rumble 500 combo, that would give an excellent idea of how the Rumble 210 cab would sound since it's the very same drivers in the very same configuration.

As far as maximum SPL goes, the Rumble 200 is going to be a little louder, but not by much. Both have B&O D-Class ICEPower modules. The only difference in the four band EQ is in the low midrange control being changed from 400Hz in the 150 and lowered to 280Hz in the 200. All other tone controls are identical. So, if your Rumble 150 combo is doing all that you need it to do, there is no real need to upgrade.

Well, I have 2 of these 150's (Stacked), and they have yet to let me down, given that they have powered through every situation thrown at them. All they required was some carefully-applied damping material to sound their best.

BTW, I find that 400Hz is perfect to counter the dip in this region. They really do sound and perform better than expected.

My first ever bass setup. Epiphone Goth Thunderbird with a Fender Rumble V3 100W. Have a long way of learning ahead of me. I'd like a number please ;)
