Hi may I jump in here and ask you a question? Here is the scenario, I have 2 Fender 500 Rumbles and unit 1 is turned off on and unit 2 if off. If I connect a speaker cable from unit 1 parallel out to unit 2 parallel out then turn on unit 1 only, what will happen? Ever tried it? Will unit 1 see a 4 ohm load or do you think it lacks circuit protection for that?

BOOM!!!!! You'll be left with two end tables. Good looking though.

DO NOT DO THAT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! As I said before, speaker connections act as both input and output. If you connect one combo's extension speaker connection to another combo's extension speaker connection and turn either one of them "ON" then you are backfeeding that high speaker voltage back in to the other combo's power amp (and maybe even the pre-amp) and will burn out one, or both amps!!!
.

You Can Do This Instead!!!

The proper way to connect two unmodified Rumble combos is to use an instrument cable from the FX Send of the first to the FX Return of the second. This is per the Connecting Combos Together section of the Rumble Club Wiki page. Then, when you turn them both on, the controls of the first also controls the second one, too! With two Rumble 500 combos that one set of knobs & buttons controls both combos for a total of up to 700 watts thru 4x10" speakers (assuming no extension cabs)! No fuss, no muss, no danger.

But, if you really just want to use the speaker(s) in a combo, and not its amp, then you must modify that combo, and void its warranty, to have a way to separate that amp from its speaker(s). See the Rumble Modifications section of the Connecting Combos Together section for links about "Separating Combo Amp & Speaker(s)". ;)

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more questions. :)

My apologies, tom t 'rific! I did not mean to overlook your Rumble collection!! Please allow me to make amends. @tom_t, you are now member #1387 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TB Signature for safe keeping. And make yourself at home here and on your Rumble Club Wiki page, repository of all Rumbling wisdom and knowledge.

I see you already know to post Rumble bass modeling discussions to the Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 sub-thread of your Club here. Thanks for that.

Please tell us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. Whatever your situation, we're glad to have join us as we all ... ...

Rumble On!

Gig Friday night, 6-9 @ Harry and the Natives(restaurant/bar in Hobe Sound, FL). One of our guitarists is up north someplace so it'll be guitar, drums, me, and a sax man friend of ours. The place is semi-outdoors so the mosquitoes will be feasting, we'll be swatting/sweating. Haven't decided for certain but prolly the 67 TBird>EHX Micro POG>R200c.

Anyone play electric guitar through their rumble amps?

Apparently it’s kind of popular with Rumble 25s. There are threads on TDPRI about it and multiple YouTube videos of people doing it.

If so, any recommendations for settings?

I use my Rumble 40. Sounds great with my Squier Jazzmaster. Engage the “bright” button, dial in a little overdrive (it takes pedals great as well) and set EQ to taste! :bassist::bassist:

Am I the only one here that has never played, or more accurately, attempted to play, "Money"?......:wideyed:

Ummmmm. Yes. Yes, you are the only one.

Wonder why the pic's so distorted? That's weird. BTW, I've been to that store. Lotta really nice gear there.

Something wonkie with the webpage view. Clicking on the thumbnail shows the correct view. I think I'd prefer the taller stack, myself.
