RUMBLE 500 HEAD SAVES MY BUTT!
Saturday night I had a gig at a place we play a few times every year. I love my Rumbles, but this place is outdoors at a large marina/outdoor restaurant, so I like to dust off and crank up my Fender 100T with two Fender Neo Cabs.
I sweated, grumbled, and grunted cab 2 on top of cab 1; to a breather; and repeated the exercise with the head. I attached a power cord and plugged it into my trusty surge protector. Oops, T100 doesn't have Speakon connectors, so I sifted through my cables to find my 1/4" speaker cables.
I'm getting excited now. I'm almost ready to fire it up and enjoy the powerful and tonal magnificence of a big tube amp...nothing... I check cables and controls. All seems to be in order. Then, one tiny pop. Time to power down. Drummer starts snickering, Guitarist (BL) starts freaking. I just smile because I'm the bass player everyone laughs at for being too OCD. I have at least 2 over everything.
I quickly reach into by big gig box and extract my trusty Rumble 500 head. It looks lost and out of place atop those giant cabs, but it got the job done. And, that 500 combo does sound amazing through those 2 big Fender neo cabs.
Oh, my, Gravy Davy!!
While I'm SO very glad your Rumble did you proud, I do hope your Bassman isn't too "popped". .
