My bad one had a serial # starting "ICTE...". I bought it new in 2017 after Fender discontinued the 5 year warranty, but this one still had the 5 year warranty documentation in the box and Fender honored it, thankfully. Here's a quote from my email correspondence with Fender. "Rumble 200s are not considered to be field-serviceable".How to tell the version?
The #2 "bad" R200 has serial # starting "ICTC..." and has "Made In Indonesia" silkscreened on with the rest of the info.
My #1 "good" R200 has serial # starting "ICTD..." and has a little "Made In Indonesia" sticky label affixed.

Now that there's funny. Now consider the "field" is anywhere outside a factory in Indonesia. Makes you feel kinda lonely, don't it?"But I don't want it serviced in a field, I want it serviced in a shop."![]()
GonePlaid, You've always been "out standing" in your field!"But I don't want it serviced in a field, I want it serviced in a shop."![]()

But according to Quantum theory, EVERYTHING is made up of fields."But I don't want it serviced in a field, I want it serviced in a shop."![]()

... AND strawberry fields forever!Ya, but, then there is those "Fields of Dreams". That brings one back to life.

... ... ... I've searched this enormous thread, and find no reference to the problem I have. The boiling, crackling white noise "hash" comes out the speaker even with Gain and Master (volume) both turned down to the zero stops. And it does not appear on the headphone feed.

In my case, both my R200s were bought used - #1 in a pawn shop, #2 on Ebay. So I'm marooned on my own planet for support.

Yo, Brian, have you tried the instrument cable from the FX Send to the FX Return?

That makes some sense, but I'm used to speakers as totally passive devices, incapable of creating their own noises. Tell me more.Might be the speaker.![]()
Try some DeOxit on a 1/4” cable then plug it in and out several times. No I had not. I just tried it, but it didn't work.
If I plug the cable into "Return" but not into "Send", the noise stops, but so does any instrument Input; it has the same effect at the speaker as plugging in headphones - total silence.
However, if I jumper Send to Return, then wiggle the Send plug, it seems to aggravate the ongoing static. So just maybe there's a connection. I tried running the plugs in and out of the jacks a bunch of times, but no joy.
The noise seems louder when the amp is cold, right after power up. If I let it sit and warm up a while it seems to subside in volume somewhat. It'll be soft sputtering for stretches, then suddenly there's a boiling, popping surge. Very eerie, like listening to sunspots in the radio spectrum. It's almost organic. It reminds me of ionospheric noise in the shortwave spectrum, like there's an antenna inside the amp.
Brian
Hmm, might have helped a tiny bit, but it gets quieter and louder, randomly, on its own, so I don't trust it.Try some DeOxit on a 1/4” cable then plug it in and out several times.
