Fender Rumble Club

Social media....Flibbity Floo! We much prefer 2001 tech!!!

Yeah! FB will be the ruination of this Web thread. (Spoken by one who never joined FB or TW or ...)

Social media creates a partial vacuum on the hind end of a monkey.

"Social media refers to the means of interactions among people in which they create, share, and/or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks."

I do believe that TalkBass qualifies as "social media," even though it's not one of the top 5, or even top 10, of the most well known examples. So, let's please go easy here on the monkeys, or whatever. :roflmao:

Uh, the specific target was FaceBook. The contemporary street usage of "social media" does not encompass dinosaurs such as email or web forums. Ask most folks nowadays to send you an email and they wrinkle their nose, if not roll their eyes. I predict a FB TalkBass will quickly reduce traffic here in a short time. Yeah, I said it.

Oh - I've been on FB since 2009. I am a major user of that particular platform - in fact I probably will check out the Rumble Club there as well. I was totally kidding. I do like that TB is a throwback of the old forum days and it's good to see it still thriving even in the face of more "modern" social platforms.

My Facebook account is very bored, because I visit rarely. The only times I frequent Facebook is when I'm looking for a new band to join. This is because over here, many bands use Facebook as their only real internet presence.

But I can tell you, your account doesn't die. :rollno:
I deleted my account about 14 years ago although you are right, fakebook still has all my stuff and will forever

I joined a "Classmates" FB forum(?)to answer a request from one ex-classmate who then 'ghosted' me for no known reason. My FB account will wither and die from non-use.

My daughter created my FB account and posted on it and commented on others' posts "for me" before I retired. Then, a year or so later, I had time to look at it and discovered that I was "friends" with my kids in the next state and cousins a few states away! Well, now I'm addicted to seeing what all my actual friends and family are doing and wishing them "happy birthdays" and anniversaries and stuff there. But I'm sure they're not nearly so entertained by my few postings.

I'm a lot more forthcoming here on TB than on FB. IRL conversations they ask about so&so's picture or whosit's post on FB and we discuss. But when I mention something I read here on TB I see their eyes glaze over and know that their thoughts have moved on. And that's ... OK. :roflmao:

For a while now I’ve been using my Sansamp VT 21 through my Stage 800, I know it’s a waste of not using the Rumble’s features and effects but it does sound very good!

I’ve been plugging the VT into the FX Return socket on the back of the 800 (thereby by-passing the combo’s pre-amp), and an XLR cable from the 800 out to the mixing desk.

A couple of questions;

1. I’m assuming it doesn’t matter whether I use the XLR Pre or Post Out Sockets as I’m not using the Stage 800’s pre-amp?

2. Would it make any difference if I used the Sansamp’s XLR direct to the desk instead of the Stage 800’s XLR Socket?

Hello Rumblers. I have a question for you all relating to a situation I am in.

I am a R40v3 and R4x10v2 user but this relates to my trusty R40. I am in a semi-acoustic trio, guitar, cajon, bass (I am the "semi" part) which generally does farmers markets, small restaurants, tap rooms, etc. We have a gig tomorrow afternoon, a 50th high school reunion (which I am missing mine since they fall on the same day and mine is ~450 miles away :--( ). I just got an email today stating the organizer is expecting about 100 people to show up. it is in a restaurant but it seems it is a large one. I don't know what kind of room we will be playing in (I do know it is indoors). To me, 100 people is the size of a reasonable wedding reception in a hall (but what do I know. I had a total of 5 at my wedding, including me). I have used my Markbass 250W amp with a GK 1.x15 Neo for those gigs.

My question is, do you think the R40 can handle this gig? I really like my R40 and would love to show its capabilities, but I also don't want to strain it or be under-mixed. With an normal band, I would just DI the R40 into the PA and get a boost if needed but the BL, who has the PA (a Bose linear array, which I hate, but that is for a different thread), always under-mixes me and cuts off all mids and highs.

I have other equipment far more powerful than the R40 but if the R40 could do it, I would like to use it.

Thanks.

Worked out the R40 alone was fine. The room was smaller than I thought it would be (the tables/people were packed fairly tight). The most likely around 100 people there. The talking volume level was very high. It seemed obvious to me the people were more interested in talking to each other than listening to us. I have been in this situation before, when I developed a ~4 hour play list for my partner's 45th high school reunion going through a nice pair of rented QSC K12.2s. I just kept the volume to a background level and everyone was happy. But at the gig, the "band leader" wanted to play over the talking and it became a roar. I felt it was the wrong thing to do but the R40 held up.

Question, Rumble friends.
Has anyone a/b'd or had experience with both the 800 HD into the Rumble 2x10 AND the 800 2x10 Combo (Analog)?
And if so, assuming no additional cabs, are they both equally capable? The weight of the combo is appealing but the 800 HD is tiny and offers a little more flexibility (leaving cabs in different spaces and just toting my head), but is more expensive.

A good time to revisit America Drinks And Goes Home:
