After years of lugging a heavy Peavey BAM210 and PRO115 extension cabs to gigs, I decided to venture into the world of lightweight combos and bought a TC Electronics BG250-115. I loved it, the band loved it and my back loved it. The only drawback was the lack of an extension cab output socket so, I wouldn't be able to connect an extension cab should the need arise.
I'd heard great things about the Rumble 500v3 and after having heard one, I was sold. I managed to pick up a good used one and I bought the 210 extension cab to match. At rehearsal, the guitarist waxed lyrical. "I could hear every note you played", he commented (not sure if that was such a good thing). I gigged it the following weekend (without the additional 210) and it sounded great.
Yesterday, I received an email from a Basschat member who, like me, had gone from a TC BG250 to a Rumble 500, albeit a new one, and his had stopped working after less than 5 minutes use. Another BC'er had experienced a similar problem and, searching on these forums, there have been TB'ers with similar issues. I was so worried, I left the Rumble at home last night and took the TC. Now I'm wondering if I should move it on or not. I've never had an amp let me down in the past. I need to know I can rely on my gear.
Your thoughts please?
